Masters of Euphemism

"Inflation Reduction Act"? Does anyone with more than 2 working brain cells believe this is anything but a pet project spending spree? Spend as much as you can before they face voters in November. But the name is right up there with some other beauties, like 'affirmative action'. They must have total disdain for those who are forced to live with and pay for this nonsense, including their very own voters.

AR-15 guys, please help

Please see the photo.

I recently got these two AR-15 parts kits (everything included except the lower receivers). Both are the same length barrel, but the position of the gas block is different.

How do you call these? (ie what are the proper terms for these different length gas systems?). Barrels measure (from chamber to end of flash hider) 17.25" The top one is marked 5.56x45 1:9, and is "unknown manufacturer". The bottom one is not marked for chamber size anywhere, and is an Anderson manufacture. Both were clean, and new or like new condition. The Anderson upper appeared brand spanking new with absolutely no wear marks on it. I lubed each bolt/bolt carrier quite a bit. The top buffer weighs 5.06 oz, the bottom one weighs 2.94 oz.

I put each upper, with its own bolt/bolt carrier & buffer/buffer spring on the full stock lower at the bottom (from one of my other guns) to test fire & zero.

The top one choked; failed to feed, failed to extract, had to be mortared to unlock the bolt, about every 3rd round... I had to rod the bore to extract spent casings, and they had damaged rims.

The second one in the photo went on the exact same full length lower, and performed well, quickly zero-ing. I was using my own handloads, which function well in my other, full-size 20" guns.

-why does the top upper receiver/barrel combo choke? FTF/FTE, bolt gets stuck? I didn't try other ammo, or store-bought ammo yet. I have some steel case I could try, or I could buy some mfg. ammo.

I intend to get two identical lowers and assemble these parts kits to complete rifles. Not a problem there. All the other little parts/springs/etc were in the box.

-can I put the adjustable stock/buffer combo on the top one?

I’ve got a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel with about 1,200 rounds through it. Within the last 200 rounds, I’ve noticed what looks like peening on the edge of the lands in the first few inches of the barrel. I’ve also noticed what appears to be small circular pores or pits that have also recently developed. Any idea what could be causing this? It shoots well, but want to identify the cause regardless.

RIP Roger Mosley...

Died at 83... Best known as the Island Hoppers chopper Pilot in Magnum PI. One of my favorite shows growing up.

RIP sir! He not only 'got out' of Watts as a young man, but was part of a very entertaining show. Moreover he did a lot to promote Vietnam Veterans as 'great folks' at a time when many were rejecting them from society. Magnum P.I. and Simon and Simon were among the first shows to feature Vietnam Veterans as the heroes...

A few things already seem off with this .
- Can't see who their team is on there sight without registering . WTF.

- They support Ranked Choice Voting .
How this works . People rank their choices from number one to number three . IE say Tom , Dick and Harry . If Harry gets the least votes and Tom and Dick individually do not have the required 50 percent .
They go back to the Losers ballots and see who there second choice is . They then give the voters ( who picked the clear loser ) number two choice their votes in hope of putting the number 2 at fifty percent . Number two should never be at fifty percent as Washington is already full to the Gunwhales with shit .
Seriously . If you vote for a Fuckin Idiot why would they give you another choice ?

Edit : The Founder is a Socialist in my opine . Championed a basic income platform .

Let's talk about China, their different cultures and goals.

Since we may we'll be getting kinetic with the PRC, time to discuss their internal workings and goals.

China is not homogeneous. There are the Han, other Chinese and everyone else. This may be of some utility in dealing with them.

Two of the best sources to get a feel for what really goes on within China are these two gentlemen. They are no longer in China, and can report what they experienced first-hand. Much better than programmatic crap from official sources.

Other peoples kids

So I’m minding my own business in a far corner of the patio at my coffee shop this morning when a guy walks out with a couple of what looked to be 3 year old girls. The girls immediately start climbing all over everything but I don’t care because not my monkeys, not my circus.
Things began to change when one of the girls tries to climb over my legs because she can’t squeeze between me and the coffee table or realize that she can just walk around the other side, simultaneously the other girl starts climbing on the patio couch I’m sitting on. I look at the dad and he is apparently perfectly fine with his girls climbing on a complete stranger because he is just sitting there doing nothing.
I’m about to say something to the dad when one of the girls tells me that they are on their way to the amusement park (hopefully to give their mother an hour or two of sleep) and the girl pulls up her shirt to show me her swimsuit (thankfully she was in fact wearing one under her shirt). I noticed that this whole new extra large bucket of awkwardness doesn’t bother her dad in the least because that millennial dad has achieved a millennial level of self absorption.
In my best uncle Dan voice I tell the girls that any clothes they have can be swimsuits if they want to be and just as I’m about to buy the two unguided furniture missiles a double shot espresso each the fact that I just told the miniature monsters that they can go swimming in any clothes manages to penetrate the dads self absorption shield that protects him from reality and he quickly rounded up the curly haired monkeys and found a different corner of the patio to make their personal jungle gym.
As I was leaving he shot me a dirty look and I gave him my signature grin and a Queen Elizabeth wave.

New to Handloading…need a second opinion

I have a friend who is an experienced handloader, retired local swat sniper, load up some 6mm arc for my bolt gun.

We are using once fired Hornady brass (not annealed), CCI 450, Hornady 105 gr Match and Leverevolution. Loaded to factory length using Wilson full length sizing die.

The attached 10 round group is 29.2 grain charge weight. Hole 9 & 10 the bolt was heavier than normal when opening and closing. 6 & 7 I’m confident were my fault. If I remove these four shots it’s about a 1/3 moa group. At the start of the session I shoot 1/2” groups with Hornady Black 105 so I’m confident in my fundamentals, ability to call the shot and gear.

Below are the velocities. ES 68 and SD 16. Both are obviously too high.

2900

2861
2889
2881
2887
2881
2881
2929 (heavy bolt)
2908 (heavy bolt)

Is the heavy bolt due to improperly sized brass?

For my purposes a group 1/2” or less is fine.

Any recommendations on how to move forward?

Friend wants to try 29.0 and 29.4.
