hey yall, just got shafted a bye cheaper than dirt. tried to order a cheaper than dirt item from their internet site and it kept giving a error message saying the transaction could not be completed. tried it several times with no luck so made a phone call to the number given. they said it couldnt be completed because the card adress didnt match the ship adress?? this sounded fishy...called the bank and found out i had been charged over $100 for a 35 dollar item, which consequently put my checking account overdrawn.
called cheaper than dirt. told them i wanted to cancel everything and wanted them to credit me back for all the charges. they said it would take 72 hours. 72 hours...it only took a few seconds for them to overcharge me. never again do business with customer service like cheaper than dirt and dont be fooled by their company name. that was one expensive item ill never get now.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

I have never had any customer service-related problems with them, but they were one of the worst offending companies engaged in major price-gouging after the presidential election and at various other times in the last few years. Their prices on magazines, ammunition and generally across the board went through the roof in a matter of hours. To the extent that their convenient "price savings" ticker on their website listings showed MSRP/List prices of say $5 with a "discounted" price of $10 yielding a "negative" savings. In fact, they were banned from some online forums for a long time for stunts like that. They went on my S#!T list for those kinds of things and I won't conduct business with them now or in the future. There are too many good companies out there striving to conduct business in a responsible, ethical mannner while still managing to give customers a break on prices. I'd prefer to pay a few cents more and know/trust the people I'm dealing with!

Don't know where you heard that, but I'd love to know the source.

Larry Potterfield, as Koz said, is the founder/owner of MidwayUSA. In my 20+ years of doing business with MidwayUSA...it is a good company that has ZERO in common with CTD (thank God).

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

Yeah not sure where Larry potterfield came from. Midway USA is the main place i order from. always get great customer service and blistering fast shipping.

so people who dont google a company before attempting to buy from them deserve to be ripped off? what retardo world are you from buddy?

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

yeah you should always read at least a few reviews of a company before letting them access your money.

at least google them right quick to make sure theres not a bunch of horror stories about them

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

Hey marduk, sorry you have been stolen from
mad.gif
I too do not have time to google every single company before I order something....... Well hope they pay you back.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

sounds like every error was a sale. thats crappy sorry to hear that man. hope the bank can help you out.

i know advance auto charges me a core charge and then takes 3 days to give it back to my credit card so i use autozone for that and a few other reasons. its the system that they use cause they are the only ones that take 72 hours.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

What I don't like is the retail store is one company and the catalog is another, both operate out of the same building, before I found that out I would go in for something and left because the catalog price was lower than the store, I even asked once and was I could pay shipping on top of sales tax, now I go directly to the catalog desk, the retail side is for suckers

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

I won't buy anything from ctd because the refuse to ship legal ar stuff to California (stuff like handguards, sights, stocks, etc). I will spend my dollars on companies that support the sites I visit, first calguns.net and then here on sh.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

I also face the same problem as you too. They do not ship ammunition to my place due to in CA.

But Compton,CA was can shipping.

Very stupid company

Your problem is your state not CTD...

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

They are 45 min from me. I have never had a problem, but I do have the convenience of inspecting the items before I buy them.

Has instant gratification really come that far?

It takes how long....five or ten minutes to Google a company? Are you honestly going to tell me that your day is so jam packed that you can't add five minuted to your ordering process to check if you are about to get ripped off or not?

I have done business with CTD before on several occasions. I have always gotten what I ordered in a timely manner.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

I have ordered several times from CTD in the past. Never a problem. In fact, I'm placing a order in the morning. I always order by phone & have never ordered on line.

so if i had googled it and found your response here i would have been in the same boat then right?

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

a google search does not always yield the answer you need to determine if the company you are about to hand money to are any count. Some people might have got lucky and had a good encounter. The internet is biased.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

i googled "stupid ass comments" and found this thread...weird! Marduk hope you get it taken care of and I'll boycott them with ya, they've never impressed me much anyhow

If you based your choice on a single comment then yes, you would have placed yourself in the same position.

Had you actually researched and read more than one thread then you could have at least made an "informed decision". That can still be an incorrect decision, but that's life.

Yes , they do . Its so easy a moron like you might get it right the second or 3rd time . Retard ?? Really whos the one crying about getting ripped off when a quick check would have you buying some where else and posting a " Hey I got a Great deal from ACME BS SALES " thread .

Life sucks , protect your self .

This price gouging is BS,I have bought lots of mags and ammo from AIM Surplus, when the scare hit, they announced they were not raising prices one cent, when they sold out, they sold out.Plus their shipping is always reasonable.

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

Screw them....They actually censored "cock-blocked" my bad review of their ammo even after I call a Cust Serv Rep and raised hell about it. Not honest at all.....

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

I've had nothing but good service. I ordered a hard to find Daniel Defense Rail from them because they were the only ones with it in stock. It arrived then next day as advertised. My wife gave me a gift certificate for $50 from CTD. They usually dont have items i want but with a certificate i figured Id look around. The item total with shipping and tax was $53 and change. I told the girl on the phone I was using a gift certificate and would pay the extra with a card. She took the certificate and then told me she would take care of the extra so I didnt have to put the $3 and change on the card. The item arrived the next day. I live close by and have only been in the store 1 time about 6 yrs ago. I have had nothing but good service from the 2 experiences I have had with them.

I had the same problem. I wanted to order the DPMS Panther Tactical grip (the one with the palm rest) for my LR-308.
They refused to ship it to me in Ct because they said it was a "restricted" item. I tried to tell them that Ct had no laws concerning pistol grips on AR rifles, but they still said no.
Then they said they could ship me a Command Arms grip or a Hogue grip, but not the one I wanted.
Finally, I was asked "Is there anything else I can help you with today?"

Re: cheaper than dirt customer service sux

well fellas i still think ctd has crappy customer service but i think i narrowed down part of the equation. i tried to order from a different source thius time and ran into a similar issue where they wouldnt accept my card for the transaction on the internet so i called this new place up and they said that my card has to have an "adress attached to it that matches the billing adress." i was using a prepaid card with no adress attached this time...and last time with ctd i used a checking card that had my old adress on it. why in the world would these companies require matching adresses to take money from my prepaid card i have no idea, its a gift card i purchased specifically to use for this purchase online to avouid the same bank account issue i had before..so? incidentally my wife went onto several nongun related sites and used it just fine. what gives? also why doesnt anyone honor a po box anymore...its for my families' safety and privacy.
