So I stopped in Bob Evans for breakfast this morning. I had the laptop with me, so I took it in and took use of their free wifi to get caught up o the happenings of my world overnight.
I hit all my typical local sites, a couple motorcycle forums, some boating forums, then started down my list of gun forums.
Had no issues logging on and reading the 1911 forum. Had no issue logging on and reading AR.com. But, when I tried to click in to snipershide, I got an access denied due to nature of website and terms of user agreement for the free wifi.

Is this place really super evil, or do I need to add bob evans to my list of places to boycott?

Re: Just how evil is this site?

Boycott them if you want... or send them an email and ask for an explanation. Probably won't make a difference to them but it might help.

Re: Just how evil is this site?

Pretty darned evil. I just got finished making a stew out of puppies and kittens. Tomorrow I'm planning to block old ladies from crossing the street. I hang out here for more evil ideas.

The real question is were they shot with a Leupy or NF?

Re: Just how evil is this site?

My work has the hide blocked as well. Try adding a S hear https://www. instead of http://www. It is a loop hole that works for most blocked sites at my shop. Good luck

I'll have to try that next time, thanks.
It is a work issued laptop, and was initially set up so EVERYTHING was blocked but a handful of company approved sites. I casually mentioned it to IT one day when talking about how much of a PITA it was to not even be allowed to search google or suppliers websites for stuff and they changed it to full access with one quick click.

Re: Just how evil is this site?

Mozilla Firefox (and a couple others I believe) offer a USB thumb drive based mini browser that'll subvert all that crap.

please explain? I am hard press to see how a usb based browser will subvert a firewall content filter.

Re: Just how evil is this site?

Yeah I wasn't very explicit with that... It only works with certain filters but the idea is you run the portable browser to circumvent browser based filtering, and the portable will allow you to use a proxy server where the primary one may not. The portable will also allow for tunnling with something like toonel (a java based program for tunneling). Some of this is likely dated... I haven't been in that game for some time...

It all depends on what level the filtering is occuring at.

Re: Just how evil is this site?

If Mozilla will do it IE will do it.

Either they are using a DNS based firewall which means no matter WHAT you put in you won't get here, or they are using a header based system - meaning you probably cannot get here DIRECTLY.

If you have a computer at home you can use the Remote Desktop Connection to get into your home computer and then browse from there.

OR you could use one of the anonymizer websites but a proxy would probably see that in the header and block it as well.

So basically there's no beating DNS, and there ARE a few ways around Proxy, first and foremost just tell IE to BYPASS proxy (Internet options, Connections, Lan Settings.

I agree with fngmike! Try typing in the ip address and see if it works. They have certain WORDS blocked. ex. sex, gun, porn, SNIPER!
