Hunters are guilty until proven innocent

Here is another case of jackbooted agencies terrorizing the law abiding. they have unlimited down time and the full power of the law to make up baseless accusations; you have to miss work, go to court, pay for your own lawyer, and get an ulcer to prove your innocence even if there is no hint of wrongdoing. I hope this guy sues the shit out of them.

Officer Wrongfully Confiscates Trophy Bucks

By Brodie SwisherDecember 7, 20226 Comments
Government overreach has become somewhat of a normal routine in recent years across the country as the grip on freedom continues to tighten. But for hunters, it becomes particularly alarming when it directly impacts our freedom to hunt and enjoy the outdoors.
That’s why a recent case in West Virginia and North Carolina has fueled the fire among hunters as wildlife officer overreach hit an all-time low.
Despite an officers best efforts to use social media hearsay as evidence to seize one hunter’s trophies, the story has a happy ending. So be sure to watch the video below until the end.

Rifle Scopes Venting on Leupold warranty process

I know I may get slack for publicizing my experience with Leupold, but I think sharing will allow for an open discussion about what we as shooters/hunters/outdoors people should expect from the companies we support. I totally anticipate some will say my venting here is unjust, but I would also expect some to say "see...that's why I buy Swaros". Both can be true. In full disclosure, I only have service history with Schmidt, XLR, and Accuracy International to compare to...I don't know how others (i.e. Vortex) compare.

What Happened
  • Bought a Leupold MK5 12-40x Spotter with the TMR reticle.
  • When I dialed-up the magnification (i.e. from 12x to 40x) the TMR reticle would spin in the same direction of the dial. (i.e. counter clockwise when I zoom-in)
  • In addition, the scope was making an audible click sound when I was turning up and down the magnification quickly.

Timeline of Events
  • Nov 21: Contacted Leupold regarding the issue and requested a warranty repair / replacement. Account created for Warranty.
  • Nov 22: Shipped spotter to Leupold via UPS
  • Nov 28: Leupold received scope
  • Dec 7th: Received the following email from Leupold "...We have received your product and estimate warranty service to be completed in approximately 5 weeks from the date your product arrived."
My grievances with Leupold (because I live in a first world country)
  • 1) Leupold does not cover shipping for warranty issues. This just seems absurd. These devices are not cheap to ship. I understand that some may take advantage of their flexible warranty and send items in for service that should not be covered, but in this case, Leupold should have at least offered to cover shipping up front with a prepaid label or advise me that they will pre-pay, but charge for shipping if the item is deemed to be outside of warranty. Accuracy International offered a pre-paid shipping label for warranty service no questions asked.

  • 2) Leupold provided an unreasonably long lead-time: When I initially contacted Leupold about the warranty service the service rep wasn't able to provide and estimated turn around time beyond " a couple weeks". It took Leupold OVER one week to check in the scope upon receiving it (Nov 28 -> Dec 7). To then find it will be another 5 Weeks to inspect and repair my spotter was another kick in the balls. The reasoning was a big peculiar. Apparently, December is the busiest time of the year for optic warranty service because "every deer hunter in the country that dropped their scope or rifle out of a tree stand send their optics in for service right now". Really???? Ok, fine. But still, imagine waiting 5 weeks to service your GE Washer/Dryer....5 Weeks to repair your Samsung TV.....5 Weeks to replace a water gasket on your Chevy Silverado. I get that my scope is not mission critical to daily life like those other items, but it costs >$2K and I would have expected different. FWIW, when I wanted to have a reticle replaced in my SB PMii, it was only ~ 1 week for J to do the retrofit.

  • 3) Leupold has no replacement / loaner program: When I contacted Leupold on Dec 7th to share my frustration for having to be without the spotter for so long, I also asked politely to disregard the warranty repair and to simply ship it back to be. I was told this is NOT an option because it had already been "checked in". So, at that point I had zero recourse. For a company of Leupold's resources, I was a bit surprised that they didn't offer to send a replacement or have a loaner program in place. In addition to the 5 week lead time, there is the 1+ week receiving time plus ~2 weeks for round-trip shipping. All in, I could be out for 2 months without a spotter. I have 3 matches during that time and I'm just super irked to have no backup. My plan is to mount an old Nightforce I have lying around onto my tripod. How absurd.
I'll get off my soap box now.

I'm absolutely fed up with every so called conservative clown who's blaming Trump, and the America First movement for their ineptitude.
Fuck the RNC, I'm never giving those traitors another red cent..

Amend2 AICS mags

Looks like Amend2 is getting into the AICS short action mag game- and with some good pricing. 12 round mags for just over $20... I wouldn't think they will be replacing the metal mags for function and dependability but they should be as good as the other polymer ones that cost almost double.

I've heard that their 30 round 5.56 ones work good except in extreme heat, but no experience on that.

Turret adjustments at longer ranges

Hey fellas , first of all , I know I post a lot of threads , just semi-new to this and love it all so much and when I can’t find the answer for myself on google then it’s just easy to ask y’all. I have a vortex scope that is in MOA. This may be ignorant of me
To ask but just wanted to be sure. Very soon I’m gonna take a long range precision class to maybe educate myself a little better. But ; my scope adjustments are in MOA , so if I am doing 100 yards groups , if I adjust my elevation knob up 1 click (1/4 moa click) it should make my projectile move approximately 1/4 inch on the target. Now , if I were at a 1000 yard target , and if I made the same exact adjustment , 1 click (1/4 click moa) would that still only move my projectile 1/4 of an inch on the thousand yard target also? My brain is telling me for some reason that 1 click on a thousand yard target would move my POI much more than just that 1/4 inch.

Are Suppressors & SBR's even worth it?

I live in Oregon and it's easy to tell where this state is headed just by looking at the direction that other Blue states have gone, or are about to go.

Are Suppressors even worth getting if you live in a shitty state like mine? I want to hear from the people in places like California, New York, etc. I want to outfit every firearm I have with one but it seems like a waste of money if I can already sense that that is the direction my state is heading in next. And I know that the end aim of gun control advocates isn't safety, it's ending gun ownership, and their path there is to make life as hard as possible for law-abiding gun owners.

Is there any national/federal protection for me that can circumvent any future State ban on Suppressors and SBR's? SBR's are legal but I just know they won't be in the future, especially in my state. Are they worth it? I don't mind a $200 tax stamp, I care more about losing a large collection of NFA-approved items in the future. Is this something you worry about if you live in somewhere like California?

This guy needs to burn in Hell

Optics SOLD Complete Spotter Setup, Hensoldt Spotter 60, Terrapin X LRF, Kestrel 5700 w/HUD, Labradar etc

I bought all this new in November 2020. Mostly from EuroOptic. I have a Spotter 60 with Mil Reticle and mil spec rails and molle case. Paid $4330. USO red dot for the spotter. I have a Terrapin X LRF I paid $1799. I have a Flat Dark Earth Kestrel 5700 Elite I paid $749, Kestrel HUD with trigger I paid $449. Kestrel rotating vane paid $79. Also a Hawk Spuhr mount paid $129, Two Vets No Name Tripod with 55mm Ball head with QR plate paid $585, Grey Ops AMP Elite Arca multi plate with 2 dovetail mounts and LRF extension paid $340. Lastly I have a Labradar with tripod, and battery pack, paid $675. So I have over $9000 invested in this setup not including shipping and such. I'm willing to take $7000 for it all shipped. No junk here. This is all top shelf and in great shape. I do don't want to part it out but if it doesn't sell as a set after a week then I'll piece it out here and ebay. I'm located in North Carolina right now and will be driving to Houston Texas and back for the holidays so I could possibly meet up along the way.
The only trade (partial) I'd consider is a good quality thermal scope or a shiloh sharps

Burris XTR 3i quality?

Can anyone comment on the quality of the newer illuminated XTR3 vs the U.S. made non illuminated XTR3? I currently have the 5.5-30 US made non illuminated version and I absolutely love it. I am looking to pick up a second one for a .300 PRC and have been debating between the XTR Pro and the XTR3 Illuminated. I really like that the Pro is still US made. Had the quality dropped off with the Filipino made Illuminated model?
