I was having a discussion with my brother and it was about how his AR-10 .300 BLK would do in what I would call a backwoods shooting competition against my 6.5 cm Sig Cross. They are set up for very different things. He wants his as a 300 yd subsonic shooter with a can to shoot things without being noticed. I am trying to set up my Cross to be a precision rifle shooting 700 yds.

His thought was he wants a gun that can throw as much lead down field with more force than a 5.56 but at subsonic speeds with a can to further help stay hidden if the need arose.

This got me thinking, what is the most powerful round I could put on an AR-10 frame in a semi auto form and still be able to stay subsonic, shoot 400 yds, and stay on target between shots for 10 rounds.

Can a 50 BMG be put in a semi auto form? Would it totally blow out a shoulder? Is the tried and true .308/7.62x51 the best for the what he is going for?

I've got an A5 in Desert Camo for a Surgeon XL action, pillar bedded, Adjustable cheek piece and an embedded front rail for NV usage. Pretty much drop in at this point, needs a forward stud or pic rail installed for a bipod connection. $525 delivered.

A Texas man who died soon after ingesting a liquid upon hearing a guilty verdict for child sex abuse charges in August had consumed sodium nitrate, according to a report.
The death of 57-year-old Edward Leclair was ruled a suicide that resulted from the lethal consumption of sodium nitrate, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office informed the Daily Mail.
At the time, the Denton Record-Chronicle noted that it had been unsuccessful in reaching out to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for comment.
“Leclair, a former Navy mechanic and corporate recruiter, was indicted two years ago on five counts of sexual assault on a person between the age of 14 and 17,” NBC News reported.
In August, Breitbart News explained how a prosecutor in the case recalled the strange scene playing out in court:

According to First Assistant Attorney Jamie Beck of the Denton County District Attorney’s Office, the jury entered, sat down, and the defendant and his counsel stood up.
Moments later, Judge Lee Gabriel began reading the verdict which said Leclair was guilty on all counts.
“It’s during this process that he had a bottle of water with him at the counsel table, and he chugged it,” Beck recalled, adding, “It wasn’t like he was just taking sips of water. He was literally throwing it back, so to speak.”

He had not taken a sip of the substance until the verdict, according to Beck.
Leclair was later moved to a nearby holding cell while the attorneys met to schedule the sentencing proceedings, per the Record-Chronicle. Aware of Leclair’s strange behavior vis-a-vis the water bottle, court officials decided to check on the newly convicted man – only to find him “very much either dead or dying,” according to Beck, as reported by the Record-Chronicle.
“After EMS transported him, I saw him being taken out on the gurney,” Leclair’s attorney Mike Howard reportedly said. “His color and pallor didn’t look good — gray — and then he was taken to the hospital. Beyond that, that’s all I can say.”
Citing Denton County Jail records, WFAA reported that Leclair committed his crimes in “June and July of 2016.” The outlet also noted that he was arrested in 2018.

Authorities are still investigating the case, but said the shooting was not politically connected to Heller’s elected office or political affiliations.


Zachary T. Rich, the Director of Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners, said in a statement that Heller would be deeply missed, adding he “was a loving and caring father to his daughter and a dedicated and loyal friend to all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.”


According to law enforcement, Heller was at his workplace when the former employee, identified as 58-year-old Gary T. Curtis, reportedly fatally shot him in the parking lot.

Once the officers found Heller, emergency crews later arrived and pronounced him dead. Detectives eventually located Curtis in a parking lot in Bridgewater Township where officials reportedly found him suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect had a gun in his possession, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“The investigation remains ongoing to determine a motive. A preliminary investigation found that the shooting was an isolated incident and Heller was the intended target,” the Patch.com report said.
30-year-old Sayreville Republican Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour was fatally shot while inside her vehicle before it crashed outside her home on February 1. That investigation is ongoing.

Surveillance video may have recorded the suspect in Dwumfour’s fatal shooting, News 12 the Bronx reported Tuesday.
“The video was recorded around 7 p.m. – right around the time Dwumfour was killed,” the outlet said.

I've seen posts complaining about bad welds, threads that are not concentric with suppressor bore, suppressors that came apart after the first shot, etc. Were these isolated events? In the past? Anyone had issues with Dead Air suppressors recently? I understand they have a good warranty, but the last thing I want to do is mess around after waiting a year for permission to own it. The Nomad-L looks like the ideal suppressor for my needs, if the quality is there.

I am looking at coating options for a Defiant Deviant action. What is the common wisdom here to consider when looking coat a custom action? What is working best for people? #2 dry tumble in walnut
#3 lube case
#4 FL size/ shoulder bump
#5 dry tumble again to remove lube
#6 trim
#7 anneal
#8 inside neck mandrel.

What is everyone using for chamber flags in your bolt action rimfires?

I just bought some yellow chamber flags from Amazon that said they fit 22lr. They do fit the barrel, but not from the chamber side! (Bergara b14r)

About to start a build for a friend. He wants a lightweight magnum/back country rifle, probably in 300 PRC. Working component list is as follows:

-Bighorn TL3
-Triggertech special 2 stage
-Proof CF barrel sendero @ 24” 1:9 twist
-MDT HNT 26 chassis, folder with arca rail option
-Leupold mk 5 HD 3.6-18x44 scope

Adding what weight I can find for components comes up to just under 10 lbs not counting ammo. My question is, is that too light? Is the thing going to kill at both ends? He’s ex-military, SF, big dude, not recoil averse, etc. It’s just that he’s probably looking at $7-8k, all in, and I don’t want him to have a rifle that is a terror to shoot. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I put this together a few months ago and decided I don’t really need it. The barrel is a proof prefit 22” 7 saum, sendero profile 8.4 twist. The action is an impact Titan (titanium 737) with full pic rail. The barrel is brand new, I’ve never shot it. Just screwed it onto the action. Weighs 4 lb 4 oz as it sits.

The action has 99 rounds of 300 wsm on it and that’s it. Looks and functions great. The bolt has the standard impact steel knob on it, so it weighs a few ounces more, but that’s easily interchangeable to a lighter knob if wanted.

I have some 6.5 gap 4s brass (6.5 saum) I can include for extra. Neck it up to 7 and you’re good. I also have some 175 gr Berger elite hunters I can add for extra. I won’t sell either of those unless the barreled action sells first.

I'm looking for a second rifle suppressor, preferably 30 cal for both 556 and up to 308 use, with a plan to use for PRS and field matches, and wanted to get the braintrust's recommendations:

My priorities are:
1. Least effect upon accuracy
2. Low back pressure for use on my 556 ar-15
3. Suppression
4. Decreased recoil
5. Size/weight
6. Modular muzzle connection (1.375”-24tpi system)

I currently have a rugged radiant 7.62 and I have a number of their muzzle devices compatible with their proprietary dual taper lock. I often run it in its short configuration with a "muzzle brake front cap" from Liberty Suppressors which just happens to be cross-compatible. Unfortunately, rugged suppressors tend to underperform on the PewScience ratings.

My top considerations in order are:
1. Nomad 30 Ti with E-Brake end cap
2. KGM 30 with APEC system open
3. Liberty Anthem S
4. Rugged Alaska 360 with Liberty muzzle brake front cap
5. AB Suppressor Raptor 8 baffle with 3" reflex
6. Helios QD with vented end cap


+2.4 oz for all suppressor weights for the Rugged Universal Mount adapter.

I excluded TBAC cans and the Area 419 because although they have a great pedigree, they tend to have a $400-700 premium over the competition.

The Walt Disney Co. is eliminating 7,000 jobs worldwide, or more than 3 percent of its workforce, as CEO Bob Iger aims to slash a stunning $5.5 billion in spending in an attempt to save the once formidable company.


Bob Iger announced the cuts Wednesday during Disney’s first quarter earnings report, saying it was not an easy decision to make. “I have enormous respect and appreciation for the dedication of our employees worldwide,” he said. “While this is necessary to address the challenges we face today, I do not make this decision lightly.”

Disney employs around 220,000 people worldwide, meaning the layoffs will impact 3.2 percent of the company. The layoffs are expected to hit U.S. employees the hardest, with the “DMED” team — or Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution — bearing the brunt of the cuts.
