What is your gun collection journey? How did you start?

This past month, I've just decided to start/build my gun collection, I bought:

  • 6 9mm handguns,
  • 2 9mm PDW's,
  • 2 12-gauge shotguns,
  • 3 AR-15 builder kits and and two AR-15 lowers,
  • 2 AR-10 complete lowers and an AR-10 lower receiver,
  • 3 Bolt-action Receivers (2 308, 1 223/556)
  • 1 22LR Rifle

I feel content with my collection and will be building/finishing these guns over the next 3 years with parts and accessories, I think I have most areas of firearms covered.

Question: What was your gun collection progression, what did you start with, what do you now have, and what do you still have left to get? Did you build your collection all at once or did you do it over time?

I think the only thing I want left is a 22 LR barrelled action to build a trainer rifle with and 1 10mm handgun, preferably a 1911 since I don't have one.

Special counsel appointed to investigate Trump x 2

Attorney General Merrick Garland has named Friday a special counsel to investigate the entirety of the criminal probe into the unlawful retention of national defense information at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, Fox News has learned
Smith will also oversee the investigation into key aspects of the Jan. 6 investigation, a senior Justice Department official also told Fox News.
It’s bad men. How many still believe in voting this away and how many of you are still willing to back the blue at any level. Do not think for a second that your local gov’t that works with your state gov’t that works with the federal gov’t aren’t all in lockstep. They are.

SOLD FN M249S Para w/ accessories $8900 shipped

Hi guys,

Have an FN M249S Para for sale today.

Has had about 300 rounds run through it, this is the newest manufacture run (2022) with the updated Slide Hammer.

Kind of bought on a whim, thought I'd shoot it more than I do but it's kinda just sat in the safe most of the year.

No issues, in great condition, this one does have the heavier trigger pull (14lb) vs the 1st gen ones (4-5lbs if I remember correctly). This makes it exactly the same as an F/A M249, but obviously for a semi auto it's a pain - though you're not gonna be shooting this thing for groups.

Comes with:

- M249S Para w/ box, manuals, etc
- Savit collapsible M4 stype stock assembly (a little salty from previous .mil use but perfectly operational)
- M249 Rail System - this isn't the KAC rail, this is the newer blockier style one made by P&S I think for the DoD
- 1 x woodland 100 round soft nutsack
- 1 x 200 round black box
- 1000 x new M27 links

Trades I’m currently interested in (+ or - cash either way)

Desert Tech HTI in .50BMG
AI AX50 older or newer style
Barrett MRAD in 338LM
NF ATACR 7-35 Mil-XT or Mil-C
S&B 5-25 PMII in Mils
Tangent Theta 5-25 in Mils

Price is $8900 shipped to your FFL from mine.

I accept Paypal (F&F, of if using G&S add the 3% with no mention of firearms whatsoever), Venmo (same rules apply), and since this is such a large amount, I'd also accept Personal Checks or Major Bank Drafted Money Orders / Cashiers checks from members have established feedback - though the check will absolutely clear before I ship.

Please IM or email with any questions.

Thanks

The “un-winnable war”

Not surprised by this story at all but reinforces my confirmation bias that this agency should be added to the list of other alphabets needing to be defunded.

“The disgraced former narcotics agent met with The Associated Press for a series of interviews before he headed to prison this week, revealing that he wasn't going down for this alone, accusing some long-trusted DEA colleagues of joining him in skimming millions of dollars from drug money laundering stings to fund a decade's worth of luxury overseas travel, fine dining, top seats at sporting events and frat house-style debauchery.

According to Irizarry, dozens of other federal agents, prosecutors, informants, and in some cases cartel smugglers themselves were all in on the three-continent joyride known as 'Team America' that chose cities for money laundering pick-ups mostly for party purposes or to coincide with Real Madrid soccer or Rafael Nadal tennis matches.

They partied in VIP rooms of Caribbean strip joints, Amsterdam's red-light district, and aboard a Colombianp yacht that launched with plenty of booze and more than a dozen prostitutes.

'We had free access to do whatever we wanted,' Irizarry said. 'We would generate money pick-ups in places we wanted to go. And once we got there it was about drinking and girls.'

All this revelry was rooted, Irizarry said, in a crushing realization among DEA agents around the world that there's nothing they can do to make a dent in the drug war anyway.

Only nominal concern was given to actually building cases or stemming a record flow of illegal cocaine and opioids into the United States that has driven more than 100,000 drug overdose deaths a year.

'You can't win an unwinnable war,' he said. 'The drug war is a game. ... It was a very fun game that we were playing.'

NF NSX vs SHV

I’m picking up a 270 wsm and needing a scope for it. This will be dedicated hunting rig out to 300-400yds max. I own a few NSXs which I have on Semi auto rifles and love the brand, glass, durability etc. Im trying not to go too overkill with the scope (rifle is a 8400 Kimber). After looking through NF for many years would like to stick with them.

Functionally, glass, weight are important. Im looking at the 3-10x42 SHV line as opposed to 2.5-10x42 NSX. Im curious if anybody has w Experience with these models and comparison. Will be hunting mostly in shooting boxes with open areas and wood lines.

I think the 10 should be enough magnification? Trying to avoid pulling the NSX 3.5-15 off the LMT.

Thanks for input

Temperature sensitivity

Can anyone point me to any data on temperature sensitivity of Lapua rimfire ammo? I've noticed that under 50F my good lot of CenterX is less good. Today I played around with that CenterX and some Biathlon Extreme in temps just above 50F, and it looks like the CenterX slowed down 20 to 30 FPS from summer temps, while the Biatlon Extreme is currently shooting about the speed that I get in the summer with the CenterX. Is there any more comprehensive data available?

Night Vision L3 unfilmed WP Pvs-14 *cheap*

Hello Hide,

I have a trade in Pvs-14 up for sale. I’ve checked this unit out and it’s good to go. It’s practically new with very little use on the tube. The customer upgraded to a set of duals is the only reason for selling it.

Warranty:
This unit is used, however I will still offer a full 2 year tube warranty as well as my lifetime build warranty.

Specs:
Tube model: 18um
Resolution: 64lp
SNR: 32.6
PC sensitivity: 2359
EBI: .3
Lum gain: 61k
Halo: .9
FOM: 2086

This tube does have multiple small specs in the image. Nothing big but it is rather trashy, hints the cheaper price. If you’re actually using this they are hardly noticeable. If you’re inspecting white walls at night for a living, this may not be the tube for you. Please see the tube picture closely.

Price:
**$2950 shipped**

Thanks for looking!

How is RCBS in business?

I've had a number of RCBS products over the years and I think I've yet to have one work.

I got a Chargemaster and it was terrible. I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement didn't work. I had that refurbished, because RCBS refused to support it. Big shock, it doesn't work. The zero wanders so it won't auto dispense reliably. It measures to within 1.2 grains as I can have it dispense 28gr, pick it up, put it back down and have it read 26.8 to 29.2gr in a handful of tries. RCBS told me to wipe it with a dryer sheet. It now smells nice.

I got an RCBS Ultrasonic cleaner as a combined christmas and birthday gift from my family. It didn't work, so I returned it for a replacement. That also doesn't work. RCBS won't support it.

I had an RCBS trimmer and the two sides were so off center you could see it with the naked eye. The deburring piece will cut straight through the wall of one side of a case well before it touches the other side. With the plain cutter piece, it'd cut the brass at a 5 degree angle. I ruined a piece of brass and then the unit seized up hard. I returned it immediately. They unseized it, but it's as off center as it was. I threw it and all the $35 bits away.

I got an RCBS #43 shell holder today. It's for WSM brass. It's even marked 43 on the piece. RCBS only lists this one case head for the #43. It won't accept Winchester, Federal, nor Remington WSM brass. I see no burrs. It's just the wrong size for the case.

RCBS imports a bunch of chinese garbage that doesn't work, but if I go online and search for a product to get a job done, half the internet suggests RCBS. There's a steady stream of chargemasters for resale and nobody will admit they're garbage?!
