I am going to sell a Semi-auto and go with a 20” AT in .308. I have a NF ATACR 4-16x42. No night vision or thermal. Should I go 1.18, 1.35, or 1.5 height and should I get any cant? This is my first bolt gun and probably my last.

So I have noticed that while ammo supply has fully recovered, one very popular caliber seems to have fallen off....30-06.

Before covid and mass hysteria you could find all types of .30-06 ammo, ranging from a wide variety of hunting to match cartridges. I was routinely snagging boxes of FGMM 168's for 22-24 a box.

It seems like the ammo manufacturers are trying to do away with The Lord's caliber...

Well. Season is ending and I'm moving to to try something a little different (still AI flavored). Started life as a 2018 AI AXSA in elite sand. Sent to GCP Rifle Co in Florida last December to have the vision chassis installed and to have it color matched elite sand. This rifle has served me extremely well over the last couple years (owned it for two years total). It has been used in matches but not abused. Normal wear on the arca rail and behind the ejection port. This is what is included:

This barrel has exhibited extremely little throat erosion, should exceed 4K rounds, will probably go much further than that. Will ship with an Area 419 hellfire adapter, barrel is threaded 5/8x24.

This option includes approx 480+ pieces of 5x fired alpha 6BRA brass that has been annealed each firing, a SAC modular sizing die with a .263 and .266 bushing, and one AW mag with HRD kit that has fed flawlessly over the life of this barrel. Also have another 460-480 piece lot of Alpha BRA brass that has not been fired in this barrel that is all 2-3times fired.

I know, it’s a bit of an odd request for info.

My work involves recording and otherwise creating sounds for interactive stuff. I’ve already got a bunch of cans (DA, Surefire, SiCo). However I am looking for perhaps more oddball (but still commercially available) suppressors that have unique tonal characteristics that subjectively sound “cool and different”.

One suppressor (that I don’t have) was present on a MK13 I was recording in Utah, and it had a cool tonal chirp to it that my other cans lack. Are there other choices out there that are still available / manufactured that when you hear them, it reminds you of iconic cinema moments? Mostly looking for tonal character here, if I was to try to describe it. Not white noise based type sound, if that makes any sense.

Again, I’m familiar with the common usual choices because I own a good handful of them. This is more for options that are more exotic which might not be as well-known, or even practical. Weight and size are not a concern, just unique and cool audio signature.

Let me start by saying I've removed several barrels from different actions in the past, but this barrel is stuck on whole different level.
I will call the gunsmith in morning but hoping for some feedback. I've worked on this thing all day and watched many a youtube video hoping to get barrel off. I won't mention smith, hoping this is some issue on me not them.
Action is a defiance tenacity, barrel is bartlein 26" MTU contour. I bought new, rifle was built for me, this was first barrel. I will give details of all I have tried below but have a quick questions first. I had rifle cerakoted. If action and barrel were done together while installed would this case a big issue getting them apart?

I have a wheeler barrel vise with oak shims, used it about 10 times on various swaps of different rifles, never a problem. I have both the wheeler action wrench and defiance action wrench. I started with defiance, thinking this would be an easy job.
Removed action from stock, initially left scope mounted since I didn't think it would a big deal. Put barreled action in vise, then used defiance action wrench to attempt to loosen action. It wouldn't budge. I switched from a 13/16 open end wrench to socket and breaker bar. Still wouldn't budge. I tried tapping the end of bar with a rubber mallet. Nothing. Now I'm getting worried about my expensive scope so I remove it. Then I return to breaker bar with defiance action wrench and more weight. At this point the barrel moves in the vise, not the action. I tighten the vise, at point of high pressure applied barrel spins again. At this point the oak shims are burnt from friction. They have turned a dark brown and are smooth as glass.
I loosen vise and remove barrel. I remove shims, use a file to roughen the wood, break glazing. I also go get the wheeler action wrench, which is an absolute tank but also not nearly as well engineered as the defiance so in the hopes of not marking my action in any way I wanted to avoid using. I put barrel back in vise, tighten wood shims and barrel in vise as hard as I can make it go. I use wheels action wrench. Nothing. As I apply more and more weight the barrel starts to spin in vise again. I re-tighten. I use rubber mallet. Nothing.
Now I watch a youtube guy giving solution for stuck barrels. I add heat. I used a propane torch to heat up the action and barrel. I'm careful not to go overboard. I definitely don't apply too much heat kept temp under 250. I try wheeler wrench with a rubber mallet. Nothing. As I really give it a good whack the barrel spins again, not separating from action.
So now I'm pissed and a couple hours in to this project. I decide, fuck it, the barrel is toast (3200 rounds 6gt), I will just put naked barrel in my regular vise because I don't give a shit if it gets all scarred. Still nothing! When I throw all my weight on it, barrel moves in my regular heavy vise.
I'm at a total loss on what to do. I will call smith tomorrow and probably ship it back the them. But if someone has an idea I would welcome it.

Ok...I admit...I think the new rage of making a lever gun "tacti-cool" is..well...cool.

I had an old Marlin 336 in 30-30 that was literally collecting rust. I have not shot it in over 30 years.

Then my friend Chad of Chisel Machining started making stocks for the Marlin and Henry rifles so that sealed the deal.

Now there are many shops turning out really nice lever builds.
But I really did not want put $1500+ plus a 4-6 month wait into a rig that was just going to be for fun.

So I gathered parts and contacted my good friend Mike at The Cartridge Family to do the gunsmithing.

He shortened the barrel to 14 1/2" and then pined, welded, and blended the brake to make 16.2" barrel length.
Slicked up the action. Instalked a Ranger Point trigger and big loop lever.

The Cerakote was also done locally in Magpul OD green.

Topped it with a Leupold VX6 I had laying around.

Here is how it turned out.

Daughter came back from a few months in Hawaii (68W/Combat Medic), and we've decided to do an island Thanksgiving. I'm going to spit-roast a succulent pig.

Kind of random question to post here, and I've already done a ton of research, plus spoken to the butchers that could source the pig. Just wondered if anyone here has done this and had any tips, specifically around seasoning the cavity and skin, and lbs/person for the pig itself.

Just a heads-up gentleman after several in-depth conversations with Terry Cross of KMW we are seriously considering doing a collaboration of a rifle project together. With our combined expert experience of over 75 years of building thousands of platforms we are thinking of doing a Tac Ops / KMW rifle and doing a run of 10 to 20 platforms. After careful consideration with our combined experience, we are thinking of guaranteeing the platforms to shoot 1/8 MOA with factory ammo. I will be doing some of the work here and Terry will be stepping inn and deploying his expertise as well. If we move forward with this project, they will be built based off of Terry’s stock design. The rifles will have the traditional Tac Ops Green & Black color pattern with our textured look / feel. We are still discussing several factors of the possible build and the name we came up with would be KM-OPS 51.

If we decide to move forward, we will launch a new thread and state all the specs of the build…

Guys that have used/trained with/own an M24 rifle, are you able to get a comfortable cheek weld with the standard stock and low rings or are do you find that you have to add a cheek pad of some kind?

Looking to build on an HS stock and they offer the standard stock and one with an adjustable cheekpiece but I would prefer to keep it looking as close to original as possible.
