U.S. Army Ends Free Storage of Vehicles, Belongings for Deployed Soldiers

Deployed U.S. Army soldiers will no longer be able to store their belongings free of charge while they are away from home, the Army Sustainment Command announced Wednesday.
A spokesman for the command, which is the primary provider of logistics support to Army units, told Military.com that it was discontinuing the use of funds to store soldiers’ vehicles and other goods while they are away for prolonged periods of time.
It was not specified whether the announcement applies to all deployment types or just to soldiers on temporary duty.
The storage policy ended in October, but the order was not “widely distributed” to soldiers or the press, the outlet reported.
“We understand the burden this could potentially place on soldiers, and HQDA G-1 [The Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, Department of the Army] is drafting policy that would enable such storage,” service spokesman Sgt. Pablo Saez said.
That new “policy” was only mentioned after Military.com first reached out to the Army about the issue in early December, the outlet noted.
It is unclear when or in what manner that future policy will take form.
An internal memo from Col. Heather Carlisle, director for support operations at the Army Sustainment Command, said that the Army is not required to provide storage for its soldiers:
HQDA G1, the proponent for [storage] entitlements, recently determined that the Army would no longer support [storage] entitlements because there is no Army policy explicitly authorizing storage in support of soldiers deployed for contingency operations.
Following the discontinuation of the storage program, members of the Army have been authorized to store their vehicles in motor pools, which are typically used to house tactical vehicles and “frequently are uncovered or not climate controlled,” according to the outlet.

Looking for a 6mm cartridge for medium sized game

Hi folks,
I have been looking for some flavor of a 6mm build in a somewhat lighter rig and researching it has been nuts. There is a LOT of information out there and I just did not want to get lost in the clutter without some form of steering from the kind folks here.

I took the 7PRC out hunting a couple of times and while the performance from the 180gr Berger VLDs were stellar, i came away with the feeling that a 26" barrel and a 22 LB rifle is not necessarily needed for deer or for the occasional hogs around the property. Also, it was a bit of a workout lugging that thing around when combined with a backpack and dead animal. I would have been outright exhausted if it wasn't for my nephew (god bless that kid) who decided to help me out with the critter when i called him.

Ideally, here are some items that I was looking to put together:
1. 20 inch barrel or less in a M24 taper
2. Shooting suppressed
3. CDG Short Action
4. Manners MCS-T2A-GAP stock
5. Gen 3 Razor glass (I have one already)

Ideally i would like to keep the weight right around 12lbs but I have no idea if that is a pipe dream.

As always, I appreciate everyone's time and am all ears.

Secret Service “JAR” rifle

Hello Hide Members!

I am in the process of trying to build a clone of the “JAR” rifle that the Secret Service used. I am specifically wanting to build the McMillan stocked version. From my research I come to find that they used 7mm Rem Mags and later switched to a 300 Win Mag some time later. Does anyone know how these Rifles were built out? Remington 700’s or M24’s? Barrel maker, profile, length, twist? Suppressed or not? If so, what suppressors did they run? Trigger? Optic and mounts? I have also read that the bottom metal was an aluminum BDL unit. Can anyone confirm this?

I already have the McMillan stock for the build. I have an M24 action available and an M24 trigger. I also have several old Walker triggers I can pull from.

Any help is much appreciated and if anyone can post any pictures that would be awesome!

Thanks everyone!

False notices

Has anyone else started getting notices that services they are using have expired, that you know have not expired. Getting notices that all the streaming services Brenda uses, Apple’s iCloud and several other strange notices like a package I ordered could not be levered or my order is waiting.

All of these are fake and while they came along occasionally, in the last month it seems they be deluging my inbox and spam box. Wondering if others are getting the same increase of nonsense sent to them

Baker Wings... Seriously?

Is this for real? Whats the shop talk on these things. Sounds like their saying they "shape" the sonic pulse of the discharge into a more preferable flow pattern? Err.. off of a barricade rest that is... Do i have that right? Wish theyd post some science along with that 200$ price tag is all im sayin.
Anyone use em? Thoughts?
