Optics WTS: S&B, Kahles, and USO mil/mil scopes

For your consideration, here are five excellent mil/mil scopes that have all come off rifles I've recently sold. The USOs are all older generation US optics models before their rebranding/updates around 2015-16(?). These sat on my safe queens, and are in excellent overall shape. The main deficiency to be found is lack of scope caps. They will all ship secured and insured, and with the mounts you see pictured here unless you otherwise arranged.

All prices are shipped and insured. Paypal or Venmo preferred. Please DM or text (317-727-sixFourSevenTwo) with questions:

1. S&B 5-25x PM II MSR with Spuhr 13mil/44MOA: $2850

Questions about first Bartlein Barrel

Getting ready to order a barrel from Craddock Precision and just wanted to see if there is any options you would change if your goal was a first round capable 600 yard AR15. Still debating between an RC2 and OCM5 and Im mainly going to be shooting match ammo. Anything worth changing or should I send it as is? Also is the MODBB worth an extra $250

Firearms Scammer Alert - LivingBrit

TLDR: @LivingBrit is a scammer. His email he was using was also [email protected] or Luke Freeman from PayPal.

December 17 I purchased a KRG whiskey 3 from LivingBrit $1000. I understood with Christmas coming around the corner there be some sort of delay. Being impatient I asked when he could send it out and that would pay extra $100 to do overnight which he agreed to and would get it out 12/27/2023. I didn’t think suspicious because he tagged the item I was wanting with his SH username and date at the time I was going to purchase. Me being a dummy and inexperienced I paid PayPal FF for the initial purchase then cashapp for the extra shipping. He gave me an excuse that his PayPal was locked. I requested a refund on the $100 on cashapp but was declined and now his user is banned and doesn’t exist. Please be cautious out there. If you know the person sorry to bash your boy. Screenshots attached at the bottom. Conversation starts with after I already made the purchase.

GRAVITY BALLISTICS

1704320697407.png

GRAVITY BALLISTICS APP FEATURES

  • Spend less time plugging in data and more time behind the glass. Gravity Ballistics walks you through building your DOPE by working with initial drop values (whether in MILs or MOA).
  • Save your profile for later use! Testing different loads? Shooting multiple rifles? Shooting in a new region with unfamiliar weather factors? Create unlimited profiles and store them for future reference!
  • Ready for even the most remote locations. Gravity Ballistics doesn't require an internet connection to work; access your profiles and add new ones even when you're not near a cell tower!

A Simplified Ballistic Calculator that uses the difference in gravity between yard lines to determine the elevation change. Gravity Ballistics works with any rifle zeroed at 100 yards. From 5.56 to .50 if you zero it at 100 yards, the App will work to dope your rifle.

DITCH THE COMPLEX FORMULAS FOR BALLISTIC CALCULATIONS

Are you spending more time poking at your Kestrel than you are shooting? Or are you still calculating your DOPE by hand? Take out the complexity of ballistic calculations with Gravity Ballistics.

Gravity Ballistics' ballistic calculator app operates on a KISS philosophy. No need to worry about bullet weight, powder loads, muzzle velocity or barrel twist here. Calculate your drop based on actual performance data, adjusting it as you go to match your rifle & ammo profile!

My first laser range finder

I need an LRF. I'm buying a 6 or 6.5 at some point so I guess I need it to go to 1500yd or so.

I'm careful with my equipment but it will get dropped at some point.

I'd prefer something not made in China.

I don't yet have a ballistics app or Kestrel and I know nothing about the technology integration options. (Am dumb.)

What should I be looking at?

What does 6.5 do over 7.62?

Well I'm mad and intrigued at the same time. I'm a die hard 308cal guy and had all intentions of dying with that caliber of old age. But on here you guys kept and kept pushing me towards 6.5 Creedmoor so I at least looked into why I shouldn't do it.

Less recoil, less powder usage, bullets are about $10 cheaper per 100.

Last leg I had to stand on was MIL and LE still use the 308 for sniper usage though. But then I found out SOCOM is wanting to go to 6.5 Creedmoor over 308 due to it being a more effective round. :cautious:

So is a 308cal really just old tech that still gets it done but there are better options out there?

Does the 6.5 Creedmoor really do better at target shooting?

Is the 6.5 Creedmoor really more effective than 308 on 2 legged threats?

Movie Theater The November Men... Finally streaming!!! Amazing movie.

So I saw this movie at the Houston Film Festival in 1993. Went to see something else, but it was full so went into this one, which was basically empty. And it turned out to be an incredible movie. Sniper-theme... but a military thriller, political thriller, spy movie... It's fantastic.

The most interesting aspect is that the scenes shot right next to GHWB... are not faked or rear screen. They shot those scenes feet from the President by memorizing the lines and simply mouthing the words, dubbing in the sound later. So the Secret Service never knew they were talking about an assasination 10 feet from a sitting president. From what I heard later, the USSS crapped a litter of lizards when the film came out and they saw these scenes.

It is low budget, short and never made it into theaters. Handful of film festivals where I don't think it did great. But it was a fantastic movie at every level. Just post-Gulf War and the former Marine Sniper with the Barret steals the show in several ways. So do the arab terrorists who are too incompetent for their own good.

Now streaming and you can get on Amazon Prime or some other services.

Highly-recommend!

Sirhr

PS. Pairs well with one that I've written up here before but not in a long time... "For Queen and Country" with Denzel Washington (very young) as a highly-decorated British Paratrooper who is mustered out of the British Army after the Falklands. Instead of getting to stay in the UK as he was promised when he enlisted from a Colonial Craphole... he is told he has to return to his Colonial Craphole and cannot remain in England or get a job. Great but tragic sniper scenes. Utterly worthy movie and a lot of themes that resonate today. Also streams... doesn't come on satellite much any more.

Rifle Scopes Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 vs Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25x56 (Illuminated)

Having a hard time choosing between two scopes for a 7mm PRC. I plan on using this optic to hunt with as well as target shoot. Hunting with this optic, I'd like it to be in good first and last light.

NX8: People state that the NF is more consistent with tracking and returning to zero. The reticle choices (Mil-XT and Mil-C) and illumination that come on NF's look better to me than the MK5. Said to have a tight eye-box.

Mark 5HD: Glass on the MK5 seems a little crisper/clear. I like that the MK5 has a larger tube size and objective diameter. MK5 has a locking elevation turret. I've read some people have issues with tracking and returning to zero.

Of the two, which would you choose?

Transferring a firearm as an individual to a Florida individual - requirements

So, I was recently told by a Florida FFL that in order to sell a firearm (as an out-of-state individual) to a Florida resident, the individual seller must first transfer it to an in-state FFL that will then send it to the Florida FFL.

I have done some due diligence and have not found anything that corroborates that, so I though I would ping the knowledge base here.

OBVIOUSLY, the recipient has to be a Florida FFL . . . so the question is: Does Florida law require that the sender of the firearm be an out-of-state FFL?

Edit: For clarity, this is a rifle.

Point me towards a "Competition" worthy pistol.

So I find myself doing more and more competitions where a sidearm is required. I'm talking about matches like Mammoth, Major Land, Guardian Team matches, etc. I'm not strictly a pistol only competition guy. I'm more of a rifle competition guy who also has to be able to shoot a pistol on stages. Last summer I ran a backyard test with 4 different types of 9mm ammo, and four different 9mm pistols (G17,G19,M17, & M9A3) at about 25 ft, all with iron sights and they all seemed to shoot the same. No combination of pistol and ammo really stood out as better than the rest. Of those guns listed, I have taken my G17 to each of the competitions, but I could have done just as well with any of the others. This led me to thinking I may be able to shoot past the limits of those guns as far as accuracy goes. I'm not trying to get a big ego or say I'm the best shooter in the world because I'm certainly not, but at the competitions I go to I don't miss many pistol points and I see a lot of other people riding the struggle bus.

From what I've read, the CZ Shadow 2 seems to be a popular choice, but this kind of pistol is out of my wheelhouse. I'm not opposed to getting something that'd take a red dot, but if I do that I'd like something very robust and not the Glock MOS because I tried that once and wasn't impressed. I shot a friends Shadow 920L and compared that to my G17 and other than a more comfortable grip I didn't see any better performance on the paper target.

Should I stay with the current pistols and go with better ammo? I can reload whatever I want, but I've just been shooting run of the mill 9mm ammo and getting by. For an event like Mammoth I take the Aluminum cased ammo because it's lighter, but otherwise I don't give pistol ammo nearly the thought that I do handloaded match rifle ammo. Don't get me wrong here either, if I do Mammoth for a 3rd time I'll be taking the G17 because it's lighter weight. For a regular competition I'm fine hauling around a heavy pig of a pistol.

I'm not afraid to spend the money, but I don't want to get the pistol to the range and not be impressed. I don't know what direction to go with this so I thought I'd ask people here.
