Updates on RemArms, LLC?

I thought they were picking up where Remington Arms left off. But seems like stuff just isn't available. Did I miss something?

I talked a friend into a 700 build before Remington Arms went bankrupt. Got some parts and then they went bankrupt. Now trying to find a standard action has become impossible without overpaying. Even trying to find a factory rifle for the action. Seems really rare. Is this something that's still in progress?

Ruger SFAR small frame 308, 6.8 pounds

Ruger released a new small frame (POF competitor) 308 for under $1300 with either a 16 or 20" barrel. Guessing the bolts are inconel or a slight variation thereof. Looks interesting at that price point and will be interested in seeing real world reviews. Being a POF Revolution DI owner there are few items on the Ruger I don't like as much but for the price, might be a great option if accuracy and QC are decent.

Gunsmithing Updated UPS rules for firearms

The latest shitshow has arrived:

The tl;dr summary appears to be as follows:

- firearms and firearm parts can only be sent by licensed entities

- firearms can only be sent to licensed entities

- "firearms" - per the latest definition - must have serial numbers

- shippers will be required to open and maintain a dedicated account for firearms and another for firearm parts and then another for non-firearm articles (have fun trying to keep that straight, and presumably we'll kiss goodbye any discounts we may have had on our primary account)

- shipments will need to be accompanied by hardcopy and electronic manifests

- shipments will need to be ASR and DDO, and can only be tendered to a driver at one's assigned daily pickup location (no drop-off allowed at hubs, stores, or to random drivers)

I've seen some scattered discussion around the Hide and other sites, but since the dealers and gunsmiths often hang out in this section I felt this topic deserved its own thread.

For those who are unlicensed, you now basically have only the post office for shipping firearms, and you're not allowed to ship handguns via USPS without an FFL. This will certainly impede warranty work, as well as other completely legal interstate transfer of firearms from non-licensed individuals to licensees.

I'm sure that the hardcore noncompliance types will claim that they will openly ignore the rules, and that will be fun and games until a $5000 rifle goes missing and the claim is denied.

Hunting scope below 3x to 15x or higher (<$2000)

I put together a REM700 LTR, 20” 6.5 Creedmoor. It weighs 8.5# with a 0.750” muzzle. Looking for the ideal scope. So far I’ve determined the NF NX8 2.5-20 to be ideal. Before I pull the trigger, I wanted to see what else might be worth considering, especially at lower prices. Trijicon Credo 2.5-15 and USO 2.5-20 both look good, but I don’t know how they compare to NF. They both cost less and the Credo can be found used for $700-800 AND weighs 6 oz less.

My criteria is:

  • 2.5X or below (Edit: really the FOV is what I’m after here. Some 3x have just as much FOV)
  • 15x or more
  • weighs below 30 oz, but preference points for every ounce lighter.
  • either SFP or FFP is fine for my purposes
  • must be mil/mil or moa/moa
  • below $2000, but ideally closer to $1000
  • length is not a deal breaker, but would prefer a more compact scope 12-14”
NX8 - 2.5-20x50 - 28.6 oz, 12.1”, FFP $1800-2000
Credo - 2.5-15x42 - 22.9 oz, 13.9”, SFP, $700-900
USO - 2.5-20x50 - 28.7 oz, 14.6”, FFP, $1100-1300

Inflation Crisis: Cost of Beer Must Rise to £20 a Pint, Industry Tsar Warns

The cost of a pint of beer (16 ounces) must rise to up to £20 (~$23.00) if British pubs are to stay in business this winter, an industry bigwig has said.
UK pubs will only be able to stay in business if customers are forced to pay up to £20 (~$23) a pint, an industry expert has said, begging the government to “start stepping in and doing something”.
Warnings have already abounded about the threat the current energy crisis poses to UK bars and restaurants, with reports indicating that small businesses across the UK are struggling to even sign new energy contracts due to suppliers fearing that their customers simply will not be able to pay up when the time comes.
Such fears do not seem to be at all unfounded, with Tom Stainer, the Chief Executive of real ale campaign group CAMRA, telling the Daily Star tabloid on Sunday that the only way pubs will be able to pay their energy bills this year is by raising the cost of a pint to between £15 to £20 (~$17 to ~$23).
“We’re seeing pubs where their energy costs are going up by not just a little bit — we’re talking 500 per cent to 600 per cent,” Stainer reportedly told the publication, emphasising that his industry was now in a “real crisis”.
“[H]ow much would 500% be on a £5 pint?” he went on to ask. “[Y]ou’re talking ridiculous amounts of money, 15 or 20 quid for a pint.”
