I can't imagine the glass in this scope being better than the glass in the ATACR? The differences is FFP and SFP between scopes.
I was just gonna give this scope a try since the two are in same price range.

I think you'd be happy with the atacr if your after sfp, but if you have a scope to use in the meantime I'd wait, all the best with your decision
Yea I have a scope on the rifle now, it's my JP built 223 I have a Leupold 4.5-14x50 with 30 mm tube on now I'm just wanting more magnification for the rifle as I'm prepping for a egg shoot coming up in a couple months and this year they are talking about using some sort of suckers for shoot offs at 200 yards so I really need to bump up the magnification.
Any reviews out there yet on the 4.5-27x56?
These were listed on euro optic just the other day, and the price will make you smile, not sure if these are preorders but i suppose someone could talk to jason* (i think its jason) over there and get the scoop.
Any chance your update on tracking is coming soon? I for one am very interested in your results.

Me too. I am so close to pulling the trigger on this scope. That's a big chunk of change for me, just need a little more to push me over the edge.
I did some preliminary tracking tests last weekend and they looked good. I did not go as far as I wanted because I developed an eye infection in my dominant eye and lost focus, so to speak.
I am travelling this week, but I will wrap up with it as soon as I get home.

I was ready to pull the trigger on another Nightforce and get the ATACR but this scope has me really thinking hard now. I cant wait to hear some reveiws on it.
Exactly my predicament. Almost got the ATACR, but I'm kinda leaning this way now. Seems like those two are direct competitors..or is it more comparable to the BEAST?
I am pretty dam excited myself for this scope. Not sure what happened, just something went off and now I want this bad boy!
I've read that Vortex pretty much has the best dam service on the planet, even if you blatantly blow the dam thing up they will give you a new one.

I am very sorry if anyone has told you that these will start shipping in April. Our initial SHOT show shipping estimates have not changed. Our best ESTIMATE is still summer 2014 and please remember that even this is an estimate. Again, I am very sorry if someone has misled you. Thanks for the clarification Scott. The place I pre-ordered from had April 2014 as their first shipment date; guess they need to update their page. Summer shipment is not a problem for me since the rifle this scope is going on isn't due to be completed until mid to late June.

Wouldn't hurt to pre order as most places don't charge your card until it comes in anyways.
Based on my rather preliminary assessment, I suspect these scopes will do well.

It seems like in this price range you can always say a couple hundred more and I could get this, or a few hundred more I could get that. There is always a point of diminishing returns on your cash. I can only afford one big boy scope at a time. What I want to know is does the Vortex sit atop the curve of diminishing returns? How does it stack up with the big boys? A used Premiere? Few hundred more for an S&B? ILYA where you at on this?

This is where I'm at right now. I can only do one big scope purchase and I had to sell my NF to buy the Gen2 expecting a April-ish delievery. At the moment April doesnt look to good and I dont want to go 4 or 5 months scopeless. So Im looking at used options but not sure where to draw the line on price or just take my medicine and wait on the Razor....
I think if you wait for a Razor II you will be very happy. I am in the same boat except I have one scope left to use. I am waiting on two Razors. Having handled them I know they are worth the wait.
Buy a SS 12x to hold you over and then when the Razor comes in you can sell it for not much of a loss.
Gonna wait on the Razor 2. Picked up a Vortex Midway special 5-15 to tide me over until it arrives.

FYI, I just preordered mine about ten minutes ago with Jim over at Vortex and he said 4-8 months which would put it in the June-October time frame. Bummer but in this hobby I guess we're probably all used to long waits for our toys.
What reticle are you all going to go with?
I can't wait for this scope to hit the market. Hopefully it will be available when I get back from the Stan. Also can't wait for some of you guys to get your hands on it so I can read some solid reviews.
These new changes look like great upgrades to their present HD 5-20 scope, which I have found to be bullet proof with great glass and the best warranty of anyone. What's not to love! I suspect it will be rolling out before the elusive BEAST. Nightforce really missed the boat. I sure wish they could get their act together. Just got a call the S&B 5-25 I ordered just came in. Luckily, I ordered it before the price increase this year. Almost too many fine optics to choose from.

Well, I couldn't take it anymore. I put in the order today. Vortex is a great company and hopefully this scope will be everything it's expected to be. If not, I blame Rob01 and ILya....lol. Btw, I was told an ETA of around June.

Not much more than has already been written and in videos. I handled it at SHOT and could tell it's a great scope. All the features and ergos. I have handled and used a lot of scopes and it was easy to see this is going to be a winner. That's why I ordered 2 myself. I would never recommend something I won't use myself.
I predict this will be a BEAST killer. Too bad for Nightforce and all their BEAST issues. And forget the S&B 27X scope unless the price drops considerably!
It will be really sad if and when this hits the streets before the BEAST. Especially for all of those who have been waiting for so long for the BEAST.
