Rifle Scopes How often have you needed illumination in competition?

I’m pretty new to competition stuff but a long time hunter. I have an NRL22x and an NRL Hunter match under my belt, and I’ve RO’d a gas gun match. I built a 6GT that I want to start doing some single day matches with and I need to glass it. I’m in the Burris XTR III price range on it, and I’m wondering if the illumination is worth it? I’d be fine with the regular SCR-MIL and think I may prefer it as I dial elevation 100% of the time. This rifle will be 100% competition only - so is there a point in illumination?

Lapua 6BR Folds

*UPDATE* With help from members here and upon further inspection these don't seem to be splits but just folds from processing. I admit after firing some of them sure looked like being split but I cannot see any light through them.

Hey guys I just wanted to give out a little warning here for those of you that picked up some recent production Lapua 6BR brass. I was able to pick up 500 peices of much needed from the last run few weeks ago. Today I went out and fired 25 and after cleaning and close inspection noticed that there were case splits happening on 20 of the 25 pieces. After close inspection of chamber and scratching me head I started to inspect some virgin brass from that lot. There are distinct lines at the neck/shoulder junction. The first picture is once fired the second picture is virgin brass.

Im not here to bash Lapua and I have emailed them about the issue. I just wanted to put the info out there just incase some others have gotten some of this and I would recommend that you inspect carefully.

SOLD Gen 3 Elite Sand ATX - $3800

Accuracy International Elite Sand ATX 6.5 Creed

Gen 3 with tooless adjust

200 rounds on barrel

Why is this so cheap you ask?

Because I took the 7 axis (dremel tool) to the bolt to smooth out the function of it. I went to far then had to weld and re-profile the cocking ramp that the fire pin rides against.

It functions perfectly and was shot in a match yesterday though it doesn't look perfect anymore.

$3800 to your FFL

I have a Zero Obsession Lately

Everything has to start somewhere and for us, it’s with the Zeroing process

We talk a lot about the Shot Process, question, what is your Shot Process ?

Beyond my precision rifle classes, I am lucky enough to sit on others, the Riflekraft, CR2, etc, I‘m endless observer and like to solve problems when needed, identify an issue and I want to fix it.

Zeroes, zeroes have me on edge. I mean it’s easy enough, but is it. Problems in our shooting can start and stop with a bad zero or misunderstood one. Misunderstood is the right word too, We often see people the scope is set to 4.2 and you ask them, What is that, and they reply, my zero… why is it there, well I figured, A, B, C, which none of them are relevant. Why is the zero so misunderstood ?

How can I address it, cause i want to address it. It‘s a process not an event so it needs to follow the correct format for the process.

Chris had a shooter out last week and several times it was, “If you refine your zero that will fix that”. Okay let’s talk refinement here, i want to hear from you guys so I can clean this up

What are some of the techniques you use to zero ?

How would you refine your zero ?

Do you have a zero shift from position and do you consider putting that into your zero ?

I have a plan to solve this but i need more input, what confuses people, what is a first hand, no shit it happened me, are you fucking kidding me zero story ?

I want to solve this with a process, A, B, C, for max efficiency

Which MC Rifle System, AI or Cadex

Several of the guys I shoot with have decided to step it up and start shooting 1,000 yds out to a mile...and went big to get there...

One went with a .408 Cheytac, another with a .375 Cheytac, and a third with a 416 Barret...

I have no desire to go that large with the caliber, but I do want to buy something a little larger than the centerfires I already have, which include .308, 6.5 Creed, 7 WSM, and .300 WM.

The rifle will be a range toy with plans to shoot steel at the distances above and possibly a little farther if the opportunity arises.

I own an AI AT with .308 and 6.5 Creed barrels, which I like quite a bit, but I've been looking at other options out there, including the Sako, the Desert Tech, of course, an AI but I also recently started looking hard at the Cadex MC.

I want a rifle with bolts/barrels in .300 PRC and .338 Lapua.

Can anyone here who owns both Cadex rifles and Accuracy International rifles share your thoughts on how these two compare to each other?

Accuracy, reliability, overall fit and finish…

I’ve never even seen a Cadex in person, but it seems to check a lot of boxes.

What are your thoughts on the options I've listed...or is there something else I should consider?

SITREP: Update 2/18 - Major War Confirmed Imminent

For those following what is going on in Ukraine/Donbas Larry Johnson talks about this Substack in his latest blog. It seems quite good.

"Note, the specific confirmation of something we predicted here in one of the recent reports, which is that the offensive is likely to kick off, not all at once but in several stages in order to maximize confusion, allow a little lead time for AFU to frantically send reserves to one direction to caulk the flow, only for a completely different direction to massively kick off into un-reinforced territory."

Playing a deadly game.

I wonder if Kim Dung Pile has any idea what would happen if he managed to get on to Hawaii or Alaska?

These fucktards in charge, on all sides, are playing a dangerous game that could end our world.

We need either the Big Meteor of the Big Jesus.

Imagine what a huge meteor strike would b like, you'd watch it coming for days while the gob'mints scrambled to blow it up. Chaos would ensue since people have nothing to lose. How would it be different if you were on the opposite side of the planet as opposed to right under it.

Happy Sunday, LOL.

Help me pick a scope?

Alright first real bolt action. I havent done research on glass since 2005? So much has changed and Im realizing how green I really am.

Ive narrowed it down to these 3, all vortex in a price range that wont kill me.

Will be on a seekins havak ph2 in 6.5 creedmoor. Thinking strongly of cutting the barrel down to 18" (been a machinist for 10 years)

Range not more then 600-700 yards. Mostly just target shooting and steel, would like it to be able to hunt.

Mods if its not ok to post links please let me know and Ill edit, this was just faster.

Appreciate the help fellas.

GA Precision: Any Pics of 2023 Builds on Impact Actions?

The GAP website (and a post from a little while ago by George I think) says that their 2023 rifles will be built on Impact actions (Not Defiance?).

I am a horndog for the GAP Crusader, Hospitaller and Gladius. Used to own a Crusader. Also own two custom Impact builds! I am wanting to see some of their rifles with the Impact action. Sounds like a killer combo that I may need to get my hands on.

Which buis makes sense for a SHTF rifle?

I’m currently pricing out parts for my one and only, one and done AR. I’d like my AR to have BUIS. Would it make sense to have a QD scope mount with buis directly over bore or a non QD scope mount with offset irons?

Based on this info I’ll start researching Buis and a scope mount. It’s going to be a lpvo with a red dot on the forward scope ring. Any info or suggestions is appreciated.

Suppressors What's the hotness for a 6.5CM precision rifle currently?

I've been overseas for a few years so I'm out of the current knowledge game on the state of the industry. The last time I was neck deep in this stuff, I bought an AAC SDN-6 (remember those?) and a boat load of 51T breaks and flash hiders for all the rifles. It works fine on the short carbines and SBR, but on my Howa 1500 6.5CM I have a lot of slop in the lock up. I'm thinking I should get a precision direct thread suppressor for it. Probably get a .30 just so I can build an AR10 someday and use it on that.

My research is showing the TBAC Ultra 9 is highly recommended. Then I don't know if I want to wade into a whole other family of muzzle brakes, or go direct thread, or use a different model?

I just want to lower the noise and blast at the range on a bench.

Also- follow up question- I have 6 months left on being stationed overseas. Can I buy my suppressor online and have it shipped to my parents if it gets out of "jail" before I get there? (we're all on the same trust).

Hijinks and tomfoolery at WVSP

Yowza.
