Tremor 3 Wind Dots, are they worth learning, or more confusion?

So I'm building a longer range hunting rifle, making the "modern" move & plan on maybe NRL Hunter in the off season.

I'm Google/Book/Podcast smart enough to get myself in trouble, but don't have real world experience with Mils & Tree reticles
I'm looking at a Kahles K318i, of the reticle options, the wider tree of the TeMoR3 offers better wind holds than the SKMR3.

6.5PRC, 156gr Berger (0.347 G7) @ ~2900 fps makes it a 8mph gun. According to the Horus App the Tremor 3 wind dots are 5mph?

All of Todd's videos & formulas use G1 ballistics(who TF uses G1 in the last ~10 years?) & are 100% sales pitches and not actual instruction (which yes, is standard for industry sales, but pisses me off because I deal with similar on a daily basis)

I searched the previous threads here & answers seem a regurgitation of the YT videos, but no real break down as to why they are where they are.

Am I better off learning the standard Mph/Mil method?

Thanks

Firearms TBAC 338 Ultra SR (Gen 1)

I bought this right before they released Gen 2 :cautious:. That was the second time I got a TBAC silencer literally within weeks of a new model coming out (the first was a 30P-1 years ago and the Ultras came out). It's on a Form 3 and is new, never fired. Black not FDE.

I have SR brakes in 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 for this that will come with it.

$1700 shipped obo.

AXSR , pictures taken at my local gun shop

Hello Hide,

This is a brand new AXSR, I took these pictures at my local gun shop.

Is it acceptable for the barrel and chassis no be misaligned to such extent?

I imagine it’s not normal, but want to hear your opinion. Should one expect perfect symmetry from AI these days? With the barrel and the rail not in line perfectly can this even be considered to be a tool of accuracy?

Thank You Greg !

I want to thank @Greg Langelius * for being the original Sniper's Hide member since the very beginning, hell before this was even a site.

I met Greg online at Shooters.com and when that site kept crashing I built one for us to use. It was silly and poorly done, but we liked it.

Greg followed me here and has never left. We had a lot of ups and downs over the years, history, health, life, and family all come into play. Still Greg was here doing his part. One Tough Marine.

The Ghost Dancer project was all Greg, in 2001 Greg predicted the rise of the 6.5 and wanted to do a Savage 260 project. That same project lead to the development of the McM A5 stock. That stock was designed on this site, greg was an early tester.

We did several shoots with the Ghost Dancer. As well as others back then.

I don't talk to Greg as much anymore, my life went into overdrive, he moved to Phoenix from NYS.

I want everyone to know, despite my failings, I appreciate Greg on here every time I see him post.

He can use a Prayer or Two right now,

Semper Fi Greg,

Help newbie find a node!

Hey guys, I’m brand new to this. Would anybody care to look at my very first test results ? I fired 3 strings of shots, 1 at each target with about a minute between each shot. The ambient temperature spiked from 80 to 98 during the test, would that explain the vertical difference between each string of shots? I was thinking #7,8,9 and 10,11,12 might be worth looking into? My shooting wasn’t that great today, it was miserably hot, I was getting eaten by fire ants and there the mirage was severe. All groups could have been tighter if the conditions were little better. Also, do you see any pressure signs on my brass? The bolt lift on my CZ 550 is always kind of heavy due to very stiff firing mechanism spring. Any advice and opinions are appreciated!

Physician Heal Thyself

Is there any reason left to even consider "medicine" a science with the good of humanity at its core?

Who thinks a quad bike (ATV) is a good prep as a patrol or bug out vehicle?

My little old 2001 Kawasaki Prairie 400 has seen some trail riding, but mainly served snow plow duty over the years. With things looking more and more like this place could go tits up at the drop of a hat, I started to think of it as a patrol / bug out vehicle, and not just a work tool. Anyone else entertain such thoughts? Obviously, not good for the "family plan" escape, but they are quick, capable, nimble, and can haul a good bit on the racks. I just added waterproof tool boxes to mine to make it even more useful.

My press is Phucked Up

Caught my youngest son crushing rocks in my RCBS Rock Chucker. How appropriate I know. The bottom two threads are boogered up now, and dies won’t screw down far enough to contact the shell plate.

Is it worth running a tap through the threads to try and clean them up? Or is the concentricity of the ram / threads going to get fucked up and not allow the dies to align properly

Let's do the twist.... :)

Hornady just dropped a new podcast on twist rates and the consequences of too much or too little. Complex but if you want to know everything you need to know about twist rates, this is it.

Thing's like:

- 300,000 RPMs is the do not exceed limit. Lower is better, within reason. RPM formula is in the podcast. My 6mm ARC bolt rifle with a 1:7 twist at 2750 fps with 108gr ELD Mach bullets is doing 282,857 RPMs. Darn close to the max. What that means is that if I want to go out and shoot varmints with lighter bullets I might be in trouble.
- Most formulas do not include air density. The colder it gets where you shoot, the lower the twist you should use.
- Most of the the twist rates bullet / cartridge manufacturers twist rate calculators use older formulas with a 20~30 percent error.
- Gyroscopic stability should be at least 1.4 at the muzzle (4DOF calculates that) . Bullets get more stable the further (slower) they go.
- The slower the twist rate (within minimum twist rate) the smaller the dispersion, which happens early on the bullet's flight.

Diesel DPF Filters - Diesel Particulate Filters

So it's time for a new pickup, the 25 yearold F350 CCDRW with PSD and 6 speed manual is getting old. Looking at the big three 3/4 ton 4X4 shortbed, everything I read is a daily driver is a no no with DPF, never gets up to operating temperature and soon the DPF clogs and the engine goes into limb mode. I also read DEF will freeze in cold weather and cause limp mode. You guys with modern diesels, what the 411. What brand has the best implementation of DPF. Thanks.

Some good news for a change!!

Chicoms are in economic free fall. 20
Percent urban youth unemployment.

Add to that a Massive Incel problem as something like 20 million girl babies were aborted or murdered as infants under one Child policy.

Massive flooding again.

Their carriers are breaking in half during sea trials.

If Americans would just STOP buying their ChiCom shit at Walmart and Amazon, we would stick a stake in their heart. And put WalMart and Amazon out of business in a twofer. Not to mention Apple which thrives on ChiCom slave labor and margins.

Crush Chicoms economically and lots of the bullshit woke movement goes away.

Stop Buying ChiCom

It’s working!
