GA Precision Current Lead Times 9/18/14 update

My light at the end of the GAP tunnel has gone out.
At the end of Jan 2013 I ordered a barreled Templar SA in 223 Rem with a threaded Bartlein heavy target 1: 7.7 twist. I provided the McRee stock. Lead time was 4 to 6 months which is now past.

I know the pressure you guys are working under, but would appreciate a revised completion date.

Thanks

I would be happy to check on it for you, but we will need your first and last name. please PM, call or Email me at your convenience.

Hi Aflick, There's quite a few GAP 10 orders that are being held for lack of surefire 762ssal/re muzzle brakes. If you did not specify that device, send me an email with your first and last name---I'll be happy to check it out for you.

I had ordered the badger thruster break. I shot you an email yesterday. Thanks in advance for the update!

I just received notice that my Gap 10 is done, started the process on 18 Dec, I am currently overseas I should be back in 30 days. I will conduct my obligatory test fire then I will send it back in with my TBA 30-P suppressor for tune.

Well for me there was no lead time for the FBI HRT rifle..was just browsing the rifles ready to go section and there it was ...just love it when a plan comes together ;)

Thanks to Dustin, great quick service!

range report will follow.......

They got you too? I HATE that rifles ready to ship plan. It just lured me into a AICS-AX R700. You'll LOVE that HRT. Mine is a freakshow. Most accurate 7.62 I've ever fired. Good choice.

I ordered a rock custom 300 wsm, Templar action, thruster break Mcmillian m40 stock and a few minor things and ordered around Feb 12-15 2013 and told maybe December, I am so anxious about getting this thing I've been wanting for years and I'm abou to die to get it and shoot anything and every thing, but I don't want to bother these guys but it was first 7 to 8 months, but is ther anyone to talk to or anything I can do to get it maybe a little sooner? If anyone mows let me know

I don't quite understand how that works. I ordered mine (HRT) 6 months ago, still no word on it. I'm assuming I should hear something soon.

I am mid/late January and have not heard anything about my order either. We are supposed to get 1 month notice before shipping right? So are we looking at November ship dates for January?

I hope this isn't the way all builds are handled (1 month notice). I am rolling up on 7 months into a 6 month estimated build, still no word.

I think we need an update from G A precsion. I was quoted 6 months and now I am going on 10 months.

Sent you an email Ken, thanks.

Current turn around time for rebarrel on GAP 10 is estimated at 3-6 months. (lead time very much dependent upon availability of parts--if we are waiting on vendors for full builds, a smith may be able to hop on your rebarrel and get you squared away even faster).

Give me a shout via Email if you have any questions. I'll be able to send you our shipping form and get the specs punched out for you. [email protected]

I have 2 custom rifles that are very good. I was quoted 12 weeks on both and one took 6 months and the other took 11 months (neither were GA Precision). I'm starting to think that this is the norm, considering the current state of the industry. As long as I get it before Jan. 1, I will be happy.

Hello Jtake, We do not notify 1 month before shipping a rifle.

YEah, early February here too. Updates??

We have started work on week 2 Jan. build orders, with week 1 Jan. orders currently working their way through assembly, testing and cerakote. We still have several rifles from December still in shop, waiting on misc. items such as surefire suppressor adapters, customer suppressors for tuning Noveske Switchblocks. etc.

We received word from Surefire that a shipment of 762 ssal/re muzzle brakes is headed our way as of Wednesday; should receive Monday and a few days thereafter to finish installing parts, QA and then Tracey should give folks calls on a bunch of rifles.

My friend just got his GAP-10 (Dec 18). It was delayed because of a parts delay. I have a lot of nice custom rifles, but after shooting his GAP, this became my favorite one. I ordered mine late Jan. and I can't wait!

A little bird told me as of last Friday they are still working on rifles in the first week of January, with second and 3rd week builds already having barrels completed and requiring gas port cuts and assembly. There was a deluge of orders placed in January so it's causing longer delivery times. Patience is a virtue, but a difficult one at that. I had to spend the afternoon watching my friend shoot his........

Hey Ken,

I emailed you a week ago about my GAP10 order, have not heard back. What's up?

I have left a couple voicemail messages over the last few weeks for Ken and also emailed him on Thursday Oct 3 requesting status of my rifle and no response.

I called Manners just to see when they sent my stock to GAP and they said they sent it back in August, then received it back for final finish/touch up on Sept 4, and sent it back to GAP on Sept. 6. No idea where it is in the process at this point, but one would assume it was done or almost done at minimum.

I'll make every attempt to get caught up with emails today. As for phone messages, I am caught up to friday--I hope to speak with everyone asap.

Just wanted to note, Dustin got back with me a few days after I posted. Thanks to the guys at GA for returning calls/VM's and for making such great rifles. I am really looking forward to my Thanksgiving GAP-10!

On a side note, I don't mind at all that they bumped a few fellows ahead of me in CT and MA or wherever. Having just had retarded legislation passed in CO, I can appreciate a company that would make efforts to help their clients under special circumstances; like never being able to bring a semi-auto legally into the state after a certain date. I would happily wait an extra few weeks so other people could have their last chance for one of these. Good on GAP, if it was happening in your state you would want them to take care of you like that.

Sounds good, but for the record, I left a voicemail message last on Thursday Oct. 3 prior to calling Manners and then sending an email.

I have not received a return call, so if you are caught up to Friday, I must have missed your call and you not left a voicemail, or my voicemail to you was overlooked somehow.

I can imagine you guys are swamped and appreciate the response in the thread, but looking even more forward to an email response (that I haven't received yet, hopefully tomorrow) or a response to my voicemail from last Thursday.

Unfortunately, Im about to get pushed onto the boat of a state with a semiauto ban.

Kaliforniastan has a bill on the desk of the governor ready to sign and go into effect Jan 1, 2014. Its been through the legislative process the past few months and still moving. I'm a mid to late Jan 13 order and I'm now getting a little worried about timing. Hopefully GA will take note if it gets close and help us out over here. I wish I could move but I'm a fed and not getting a paycheck even though Im forced to work.

Whatever, at least all my reloading supplies are stocked...

Hi Reb, Could you give me your first and last name via PM? I'll make sure to touch base with you.

(update on GAP 10 -- 10/8 -- We are moving through the log-jamb of January orders as expeditiously as possible. Parts are all now in stock, but we are not completing as many builds per day as we had hoped. With us missing our updated lead time from 8-14, Gunsmiths are hesitant to offer another estimate. Their best guess is to have all of week one GAP 10 completed in about 4 weeks. We are very sorry for the delay. If the wait has become completely unworkable for you, please call 816 221 1844 ext 4, or email [email protected] and we will offer a 100% refund.)

Rifles Ready to Ship

Ken,

Wouldn't this put California orders from late Jan-Early Feb at a huge risk of not receiving their rifles before the impending ban on Jan. 1, 2014?

I'm mid/late Jan. This is what I'm worried about. I need to get my rifle at least 10 days before Jan 1, 2014!!!

I'm jan 28. Before I actually shot my friends, I would have been able live without another semi auto... But I shot his gap-10 and it's already my favorite rifle, so I'm really dreading what may happen...

What does 8/14 reference, as well as week 1?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

the 8-14 date references George's initial update on the January orders and related delays.

Week one is the group of rifles ordered from jan 1-7 that we are currently in the middle of production on.

What ban are you referring to? I am only aware of sec 3 , 30902. (a) Any person who, from January 1, 2001, to December 31, 2013, inclusive, lawfully acquired an assault weapon that does not have a fixed magazine, as defined in Section 30515, and including those weapons with an ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm with the use of a tool, and who, on or after January 1, 2014, lawfully possesses that firearm, shall register the firearm by July 1, 2015, with the department pursuant to procedures determined by the department." Bill Text - SB-374 Firearms: assault weapons.,

We rely a-lot on our customers to let us know what legislation has passed so we can make appropriate changes to accommodate. Let me know!

Ken, you are correct about SB-374. What I am worried about is Rifle registration (AB-809) that takes effect on Jan 1st, 2014. This bill has been passed and will take effect. As of right now to purchase a rifle you only go through a background check. Starting the 1st, rifles will have to be registered just like a handgun. Basically every rifle you have owned prior to Jan 1st 2014, you get to keep without registration. But unfortunately after that date, all rifles need to be registered and all data collected. I believe they are doing this so they have records on ALL firearms owned by legal citizens. Unfortunately, this leads to forced confiscation, hence the reason I would like to receive my rifle before Jan 1st........... Plz:)
