I used the 210 TTSX in my 338RUM and took several animals from 30yds to 497yds. Bullets performed perfectly. Picture perfect expansion and good penetration.
I used a carbide burr to remove a slight amount of material and provide a rough surface for the bedding material. Use tape around the barrel to center it and set the action height. Action screws with cut off heads and several layers of tape so that they never touch the bedding material after...
Re: Africa Hunting Trip I took the ATL to Johannesburg Delta flight. Smooth and easy. Good info here! http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/cfrm/f/5211043
Which color would be similar to a factory matte or semi-gloss blue finish? Graphite black, titanium blue, midnight blue, or some mixture? Got a 22 I'd like to coat, but keep the walnut/blue look. Thanks!
Re: How many use CCI 450 mag primers w/ .223 varget? I use the 450's in my 223 and 6.8SPC w/ ssa small primer brass. I use H322 in both calibers. Both shoot really well, but I did my load work ups with the 450's so I'm not sure about interchanging to std primers.
Re: Mossy Oak Graphics® Rifle Camo Skin I was also looking at that. I watched the installation video and it seems pretty simple, but may not be the prettiest thing when it's all said and done. The biggest problem I see is having to remove all traces of oil for propper adhesion. This could...
Re: Fire resistant closet... Good advice, thanks! I'm working with a single floor rancher home with a crawlspace. At some point I plan an addition and will build a real vault with concrete/rebar and a good door but that is a few years down the road. My safe is 72x40x28".
What is there to be gained by building a "closet" in which to house my Cannon safe? If it were constructed of non-flamable material such as concrete backer board and finished with fire-retardant sheetrock and a good steel door with a couple of deadbolts? In addition to a touch more security...
Re: .25 Pronghorn I have one built on a Howa 1500SA. It is a hunting rifle with a 25" fluted #4 Hart barrel and a B & C Medalist (Weatherby sub-MOA) stock. I use Redding dies (~$100 I think) and they are a off-the-shelf die set, not custom. I use Rem 270WSM brass and turn the necks just...
Re: using nickle to not size full brass Seems like I remember seeing this in the instructions included with some old RCBS dies. Included was a spacer (about the thickness of a nickle) that was inserted between the shellholder and die when setting up the die in order to "partially full-length...
Re: Caliber and bullet choice for gemsbok I shot plenty of stuff in SA with my 270WSM and 150 partitions. Put the bullet in the right spot and it will work.
Re: 1st Coyote while turkey hunting Love it! Nothing like 1.75oz of #5's to the head. I've killed a couple that came in to my calling and were looking to eat my decoys.
Re: hog loads/bullet preference Killed quite a few hogs with my 6.8 loaded with Nosler 100gr Accubonds. Mostly head shots, but a couple of chest shots. 223 with a 50gr Barnes TTSX also does the job.
Re: Sierra Pro Hunter 110/115gr 6.8 SPC ammo for hogs? I load 100gr Nosler Accubonds in my 6.8. Works great on deer and hogs. Shot 3 hogs last weekend. One between the eyes, one behind the ear, and one running quartering away passthrough. I'd say the Sierra will work fine if you avoid the...
