I currently load with a Dillon 550 an a Redding T7, I have also owned a Dillon 450, a Lyman Turret and a Lyman O-Frame. I found the Redding to be very strong, more so than the Lyman Turret. I also found the Redding to make ammo on par with the Lyman O-frame, no issues with anything I have...
One thing you could check is how far off the lands are you oal wise. I had an issue getting it right once myself and getting it on point helped my grouping.
Re: I Need alot of help Dillion owners I agree, give Dillon a ring, mail it in, and head to there website to print off a free owners man. This way when it shows up back to your place you'll have an idea of whats going on with it and a working press to operate.
Re: handload reciepe for .223 w/ 69gr. sierra hpbt This shot good out of my 1-7 twist AR. LC brass trimmed to 1.750 2.260 OAL 69 grn Sierra HPBT 24 grns Varget CCI small rifle primer. Hope it helps.
Re: press and dies I use a Lyman Crusher 2 single stage, a Dillon 450, and a Dillon 550. They all have their good and bad tendencies but in the end I put together some decent ammo and thats what matters.
Re: Fans of the Hornady new dimension dies? Another guy with the seating die set up with the micrometer, works real well for me and accurate as well. The full legth resizer though is not great in my oppinion. Cases will tend to want to get stuck, no matter how you lube them. For my FL...
Re: Taking the plunge! I have a Lyman 49th edition and it has a lot of good information in it, but a lot of gun shops have many books to choose from. You can thumb through them and see what kind of info is in them and which one you like best. Hope this helps.
Re: Favorite gun you have shot, own, wish you shot? Browning M2 50 cal, M240B, M249. They are all pretty cool and the ammo was paid for by somebody else. Cant beat that.
Re: Quick reloading question I loaded a 69 grain SMK HPBT bullet in a LC case and found it to be a great shooting round, i used varget powder but cant remember how much without checking my notes. I never put any sort of crimp on them and did not have any issues with the bullets walking out...
Re: RP or WIN brass? Been using Win brass lately and it does pretty well. Although when i opened up the bag and started going through it there were a couple that were tore up to bad for me to load. And before i worked the casings over the mouths on them were pretty rough.
Re: Reloading equipment? If your loading kit did not come with a handbook/manual those tell you quite a bit. My loading kit came with the Lyman 49th edition and you can also get free load date from Hodgedons website that is pretty decent. If you plan do load large rifle bullets, you may...
Re: What bullets are your favorite for target .308 WIN My number one is the 178 AMAX with the 168 coming in second. But in the event i get hard up and run through my stash, SMK's work real well also.
Re: 30-30 question I hunt a Marlin 336W and load a 160 grn FTX with 28 and change of H4895. I got the load data off the Hornady site for free and it states the bullets is doing 2100 fps out of the muzzle. The FPS could probably be upped the the new Hodgedon Lever Evelution powder but i have...
Re: Hornady seating die I use a Hornady seating die but i put the micrometer seating insert into it for a little more accuracy. It seems to me the die is pretty well made and for that to be an odd problem. If the problem has been persisting then i would call Hornady and check with them, it...
Re: LC Match Brass I have used some 93 LC match brass and have had good results using between 41 and 43 grains of Varget with a 168 or 178 grain AMAX. Seating is usually between 2.865 and 2.875. I have never gone over 43 grains due to the smaller internal case volume. Hope this helps.
Re: Bolt won't close on cold ammunition??? I had a similar problem a while back. I was failing to bump the shoulders enough. Solved it by putting my FL resizing die down a little more towards the shellholder. Hope this helps.
