Introducing: NEW .22LR rounds Lapua Long Range & Lapua Super Long Range
🤩

Our Lapua quality has been around for 100 years, and today, we are proud to celebrate this milestone by presenting two new rimfire cartridges designed for ranges at 100 m/yds and beyond: The Lapua Long Range and Super Long Range, designed for those who are looking for the best of the best in extreme long distance shooting with .22 caliber ammunition.

These rounds show excellent performance on targets at 100 m/yds and beyond, and are the perfect option for disciplines such as Long Range, PRS, rimfire benchrest and field target shooting. With a muzzle velocity of 337 m/s or 1106 fps, Lapua Long Range and Super Long Range come with a flat trajectory and improved wind performance. Both cartridges bring a competitive advantage to any top shooter, with the Super Long Range giving the very best group accuracy.

Feel our Passion for Precision at the rimfire range this year with Lapua Long Range and Lapua Super Long Range!

Build a new precision bolt action rifle for whitetail hunting and bench shooting

1) I currently have a Remington 700 5R .308 on a Magpul Hunter Stock with a Nightforce NXS 5.5-25 x 56 mm that is shooting 3-4 inch groups at 100 yards. I have a Timney Calvin Elite Trigger and a Area 419 Hellfire Brake on it. I got the same groups when the action was on the factor HS Precision stock it came with. I am shooting Hornady American Whitetail (which this gun seems to like) and this is the groups that I get. I get a little better groups with Federal Gold Medal Match and Federal Game Kings 165 grain and 168 grain .... This is unacceptable in my opinion. I really want to get better at shooting and stretch my 308 out to 1000 yards just for fun. And maybe shoot deer out to 400 or 500 yards. A few guys on Snipers Hide recommended I talk to Karl Kampfeld, a gunsmith, which I did, and he suggested truing my action and changing my barrel from the Remington Factory 5R barrel to a Kreiger or Bartlein barrel, which he said would run me close to $800-$1000. That sounded like a good idea to me, but I've never thought about having my gun rebuilt until recently.

2) I've also thought about just buying another factor gun like a Christensen Arms Ridgeline or one of the Bergara better quality gun that I can use as a hunting rifle to 500 yards/bench rifle to long range shoot out to 1000 yards. But in my reading of reviews, I think I'll find that i'll just get the same groupings as my Remington. They are better guns, I know, higher end guns, but they are still factory rifles and will still probably require some gunsmithing to get me to better groups with the kind of factory ammo I use. One day I'll start reloading and i'm sure my groups will tighten up even more. But for now,I am trying to decide what to do about this .308 bolt gun situation. I really want to stick with a .308. I know I can get more accurate with a 6.5 Creedmoor or a 300 win mag or a 7mm rem mag or a 260, but for now, I want to stick with a 308. I have an M1A that i 308, and I have a lot of ammo in 308, and Ive used 308's most of my life, so I dont want to start over with a new cartridge.

3) The other option one of you guys on Sniper's Hide suggested, is for me to call Long Rifle, Inc and have them build me a new precision/hunting rifle on a Zermatt action. I called Long Rifle, Inc, and one of the gun smiths there said they could use my Remington action and build from there or build me a new gun on another action. Up to me. I am also looking at putting the action on a McMillan A5 stock or a Manners and have the rifle glass bedded.

I need options, guys. I need some of your wisdom. Id like to keep the rifle not too heavy since I need to carry it through the woods and up into a treestand, but I also want it to be a gun I can grow with on the bench for bench shooting. I also done have a ton of money to do this with. I know the stock will run me $750-$950. I have that. And I have around $1500-$2000 to build the rifle from the ground up. So, tell me some things I dont know, or some things I havent thought of.

Thanks in advance for reading this and looking at each of my ideas and telling me what you think.

I’m sorry to say this

Well gentlemen ( wrong greeting for this forum but anyways ) I’m sorry to say this and I have been trying to deny it as long as possible. Unless I die in the next few years I firmly believe I will see the fulfillment of Revelations prophecies in my lifetime.

First Bolt Action Rifle January 2023

Hello, I’m wanting to purchase my first what I would call a higher quality bolt action rifle. My primary and previous experience is with a Ruger Gunsite Scout in 5.56/.223 rifle open sights. I have owned a Browning X Bolt in .243WIN didn’t really like it. I’ve also owned and shot a Savage 110 Storm in 308WIN. For both rifles I ran a simple Nikon BDC 3-9x40 scope. I’m LEFT HANDED and am looking into the following rifles all of which are in 6.5 Creedmoor.

1. Christensen Ridgeline
2. Bergara B14 HMR
3. Savage 110 Timberline
4. Savage 110 Ultralite
5. Savage Impulse Big Game Hunter

I’m brand spanking new to reticles/optics as well.

FFP or SFP?
MIL or MOA?
Brand?

Any help would be very welcome. Thanks for reading my post.

The death penalty.

This is not about whether its right or wrong, opinions differ. It is about the methods used.

Ive seen a lot in the news about not allowing executions because they were botched,, missed the vein, or they couldnt get the right chemicals, or that they cause the perp sufffering.

I've never bled to death but I hear its painless, you just get chilly, and fall asleep. Why not just put a needle in the perps arm and let him slowly bleed out? Seems more humane and cheaper. Doesnt wreck the body so it can be dismembered and recycled for parts.

Maybe thats to simple and reasonable?

K&M arbor press and Wilson seating die

Howdy. Just got a chance to try my new press and seating die and I have run into some issues. I’m using new Lapua 6.5 CM brass, 143gr ELD-X bullets, using K&M expander mandrels to set .002 neck tension and was confirmed with the correct .002 tension pin gauge and my press has a force gauge on it. I have seen the amount of force to seat the bullets go from 65-110 pounds.

I called K&M about this issue and a gentleman said for me to turn the necks to right at 100% clean up. This put me right at .013 with the clean up. The amount of force after turning the necks is still up around 65 pounds.

Has anyone running this set up run into this amount of force, or had issues with Wilson seating dies?

Suppressors I’m indecisive: Nomad 30 or Sandman S, something else?

Talk me in/out of a Nomad 30 or Sandman S, or something else. I just ordered a Nomad 30 (debated a trash panda as well), and just realized if I’m spending this much. I want as much input as possible, I’ve searched and searched plenty. But I’m naturally indecisive, so here I am.

-Would like to keep it in the same price range, +/-
-Will probably buy a dedicated 556 can later on. Have an obsidian 45 already. So I need a .30 cal can
-I know the strengths and weaknesses of both; no full auto, occasional mag dumps, variety use on range days and will be used to hunt
-Width of the can is irrelevant to me, but do like the aesthetics of a slimmer can
-I have no brand loyalty and I would like to put something I’m jail asap
-Weight is not the biggest factor for me. (I say this now)
-Will be tossed around my 16” AR, 10.5” P556, my .270, couple Henry’s and my future gun (CTR Mayb?)
-I would like something that will be appreciated in my arsenal for life, and can be passed down etc.

I do like the concept of Keymo, but if I were to go the Nomad route, I’m leaning towards Rearden.
