Anyone using the Eley specific extractor? Wasn’t aware until ordering some spares. I’ve run all brands of ammo with no issues, but run Tenex most of the time.

As per usual , thanks in advance Fellas !
I asked Ray that and he said he would not change it out unless you start having issues. I shoot SK but with the limited amount in stock I’m looking at eley. Most of the RimX guys at our club shoot eley and none have the extractor. One guy drove in for a match a few months back and he said he had to change his out for eley.

How’s the new bolt doing?

Perfect to date…
Let my kid borrow it the other day.. after a cleaning, without grease.
He took a brick and didn’t bring much back, so i’m guessing it’s close to 2000 rounds… and the last 500 or so were run dry… 😳

Edit: Pic added. Looks the same as when delivered.

Well sounds like they fixed the issue which is amazing. After shooting a Rimx and how easy the bolt closes I don’t know if I will ever shoot my Bergara again.

As previously stated, I’m new to this so I’ve only shot my Rimx,
But do currently have another build going, and a third in planning.
Hoping they turn out as good.

I have a question. Considering everything that has transpired with high end .22lr actions, lately, have the issues with RimX bolts been resolved?
Yes, there has been a significant amount of documentation and reporting over the last couple pages of this thread concerning the bolt fix. Everyone seems to be issue free with the current round of replacement bolts.

I received the newly released Criterion hand taper lapped rimfire blank. Its headed out to Mike @ Manzella to cut so I can test it on my RimX.

We will see how this new barrel shoots. Seems everyone is jumping into the rimfirw blank game. I heard CRB is also making a lapped rimfire blank but I know nothing about it.

I've replaced my bolt. Sent my barrel back to get it rechamfered. Tried 5 different magazines.

Still have issues. Can't get through 2 magazines without failure to eject and or stuck rounds in chamber.

I just pulled the barrel and installed a Proof. If that doesn't fix it im out of options outside of sending everything to a new Smith.

Failure to eject?? Or do you mean failure to extract?? That sounds like a broken extractor and/or tensioner because it was closed on a round...

Post a pic of your extractor. If you’re having failure to eject issues, get with Marc Wright on FB and buy his extra power tensioner spring. Will make a big difference. He’s in the rimx group.

I have 2 CRB 22RF blanks, one is with DI Precision waiting on a build.

The other is waiting for the new APR to come in. I'll have that one spun up for it.

Brand new RimX owner here...

I have mine sitting in an MDT XRS chassis. The only issue I seem to have is that I can't seem to adjust the magazine to get rid of the "slop" and keeping it tight in the mag well. Any advice? I was thinking of just trying to put some tape or something inside the mag well, but was hoping for a more permanent solution.

You mean back and forth/side to side or up and down?

I have that chassis on my CZ, but it won't have the issue you are describing since it's a different setup. So you've adjusted your mags so they feed good and aren't shaving the bullet or misfeeding, but you want to remove side to side slop of the mag? You could try getting adhesive backed mylar film tape and fitting them in the mag well. Silly question, but you are using the Zermatt metal mags and not a Vudoo mag or another aftermarket mag?

I'm running MDT Elites on my Rim-Xs, they have some side to side play. Nothing crazy, have not tried the dowels to tighten them up.

It's actually a little of both, I seem to have mitigated it a little by really fine tuning the catch on the magazine. It feeds just fine if I am have it on a tripod and carefully cycle the bolt, but it seems to be finicky if my magazine is pressed up against anything or has pressure on it. It is such a small cartridge there just isn't much room for any play.

Yep. RimX mags. I am headed out tonight to mess around with it a little.

i run gray ops bag stops on both my acc elite and mpa matrix to prevent interference from obstacles; doesn't address lateral stability but do not have lateral stability issues with my rimx mags. for 3rd party mags i've found velcro to be helpful laterally. fwiw gray ops recently came out with a "straight" bag stop specifically for the 22lr crowd.

I use this stuff to remove some of the play in my mag well. It’s pretty tough stuff, you heat it carefully with a heat gun to apply it around an edge.

Swapped barrel to a proof. Put into a different chassis.

450 rounds of malfunction free firing today. Finally.

Whatever the variable was either the barrel and or combo of the barrel with the chassis.
