spotting

I want to purchase a spotting scope but i need some knowledge laid on me. I do not know enough about them to make a decision on what is best for my needs. I am a believer in buy once, cry once so I've decided it should be along the lines of USO, Swarovski, Leica, Nikon or if Leupy gets raves...

What is a good spotting scope size I want to see my .223 holes in the black at 200 yds.

I was planning on purchasing a Pentax 65mm scope. It is now hard to find as it is being replaced by the series II. There are a few of the older model here and there. Anyone have experience with the new series? Or should I try to pick up the old model? (The latest is not always the greatest!) Legdoc
