I have been following this story for awhile and in the last few days it has blown up.
Link is today's part if more back ground is need let me know. But I will give short summary.
Last year on a dark and cold night a lady ran out of gas, a drug addict homeless man gave her his last dollar ($20) for her to get help/gas. She makes it home and the next day or so, the Mrs, and Her Mr are so thankful they go back, find him, and do a face book page/post (WTF ever you call it) and there is a bunch of interest to help the homeless guy. Mr and Mrs start a gofund me page for him and Mother Fucker they raise $400,000 for him.
Well they make excuses of why they wont give him the money. Say he will spend it on drugs and shit. So homeless guy gets a lawyer and Son of a Bitch if the money is not GONE!!

If he wanted to use it all on drugs that is up to him. Admittedly the homeless guy did get $75,000 6 months ago and much of it was used for drugs.

Maybe I am wrong but I think the MR and MRS are fucking trash. Used the homeless guy to make $$$$. Guy helps get your wife home safely when he could have raped and killed her, and that is how you say thanks.

The more they held that money in their hands that man who was selfless seemed less worthy than them. Greed. Our gov runs on it.
 
Yep, I think the $75,000 was to try and make him go away. Thing is it was all over the news and like most news/gofundme things they fade fast, like a week maybe less. So when it hit $400,000 in a few days that made the news also. Homeless guy might be on drugs but he sure as hell is not stupid. Lots of record of the account getting to $400,000.
 
I have been following this... and it's sad that the 'vet used the windfall to further his addictions.

It is inexcusable that Chad and Muffy swindled people out of almost a half-mil... by using a veteran in need.

I get it... the guy who this money was intended for... was not in a state to accept it. But that doesn't mean it could not be put in trust or investment to help him at a later date. When he is ready. Because, eventually, he will be ready. Or dead... and then the money can go to other vets.

A giant shit sandwich and a good reason why "Go Fund Me" went from a good idea to help out entrepreneurs and people who wanted to better themselves... to the Internet version of Squeegee people and massive pathetic scams.

Several years ago, BTW, an SH loyal posted his book up here... needing $5k for printing at a private press. He was one of the Marines who got 'skinned' for urinating on the corpse of a sierra-bravo who was, minutes earlier, trying to kill them. Cry me a river. Winner take all. He was (and is) a hell of a sniper and is a friend to this site. But back in the sandbox, he got charged, accused, run into the media by the Obama administration... and drummed out of the Corps. Oh and, later, exonerated. But you never saw that on the news.

Here on SH, we used GoFundMe to fund his book...get his story out. Tell the truth. And more... help pay for his legal defense. (Pathetic that a patriotic Marine, doing his job, should need a Legal Defense.) Ultimately, his book was a winner and he got exonerated by the DoD. And the folks here on SH, helped him prove his innocence in the court of public opinion... and with the gummint.

THAT is a great use of GoFundMe. Most of it now is "Wahhhh... I don't want to get a job, but my BMW 3-series needs a head gasket and I'm a minority..." Give me free money.

Screw that %$#t.

The whole concept of the site, which had noble intentions (to keep slimy venture capitalists from stealing good ideas) has turned into a pathetic panhandling place for losers and losing ideas. The original idea is that winning concepts could get some seed funding that would create massive multiples of success... like the book that SH funded. Instead, it's turned into begging for worthless scam artists and losers.

I remember the SH brother you speak of. As for me, I don't think there is anything in this world that is worth me selling my reputation for. I'm not saying I wouldn't be tempted, but for Chad and Muffy, it appears it was something below $400K. That's a shame. Unless my dad lied to me many moons ago, the only thing a man has in this life is his word. I was about three when he told me that and it's stuck with me ever since. Maybe I'm stupid by today's standards, but I still have my reputation.

They are going to get convicted by their own stupidity.

Virtue signalling SJWs that couldn't resist helping themselves to a big pot of money and felt good about doing it by claiming that the actual intended recipient that people donated to was "inferior" to them.

Ever since they were "helping manage" the donations, they have been actively posting all over social media their great expensive new lifestyle doing fabulous things, going on expensive trips, going gambling, buying expensive cars... All while being unemployed &/or making low wages. They pretty much made the prosecution's case for them.

They claim they had to dump all the funds into their own personal account since "he didn't have an ID"... Idiots... It would have taken 5 minutes to open a dedicated account for that under their name to keep everything on the up and up & make record keeping simple.

If they had concerns about how he was going to spend the money, it's simple to fix, people do it all the time.
Setup a trust that owns a house & car for him, and pays all the taxes & utility / insurance bills.
Then the trust has monthly allowances for cash withdrawals and monthly allowances for groceries and allowances for medical bills / insurance if you want. Set it up then let it run and don't worry about it yourself, have some professionals do it, then your hands are clean and you are blameless.
Document all prior expenses for lodging, food, cash and other such, and get a signature from the guy or a print acknowledging he received such before each expense, then turn those records over to the trust to keep.

Yeah seen this . Couple of scumbags . Supposedly the rest of the 400k is gone and they are facing charges . Sick to say that since 2016 nothing surprises me anymore . Really just waitin for the reset . People like this don't just materialize . Their neighbors and family are familiar with the types of shitbags they are .
 
Greed. Plain and simple greed. It's everywhere, but I gotta tell ya, the shitbags that pull this crap aren't gonna stop those of us who get a kick outta doing something for friends and strangers. We've done some good stuff and will continue to. These shysters won't rule the day. We will. I feel sorry for the folks that gave and hope it doesn't keep them from doing good acts in the future. Just be a bit more cautious where you throw the $.

That's just sorry ass shit, raising that much for that fellow then keeping it like you won the lottery or some shit. Wow. Amazing. It'll certainly cool other legitimate donations like that. That was enough money to take several people off the street, to start a halfway center so they can find work and save for a home. Instead of dumping $400k on fish for one guy, they could have taught untold numbers to fish.

Or a couple of shyster fucking greedbag old fucks can hit the jackpot in this guy's name. I hope his lawyer takes their house if they spent it. Spend it on drugs... Just got spent on someone else's habit is all.

How do they feel qualified to deem the Veteran, "Unfit to receive the money" He seems more worthy of the funds then the tools who raised in on his behalf.

I disagree. The homeless man got fucked. The right thing to do would have been to get him a lawyer/adovcate put the money in a trust that requires him to be sober.
Obviously i don't want the guy to OD, but if they were truely trying to save him from himself the money would still exist instead of a BMW sitting in the driveway.

It's like they took their cues right out of the business operating manual of Wounded Warrior Program. Fuck those clowns, I hope they don't get to just skate out of it with a bankruptcy filing.

There's three organizations I will donate towards, and all operate with zero paid employees. American Snipers, Recon Sniper Foundation, and the USMC Scout Sniper Association. Being as I know and served with board members on the latter two, as well as I know people they've bent over backwards on their personal time to help, they're who gets my money.
