SOLD WTS Vortex Razor Gen II

Interested in trading my vortex razor gen II 4.5-27×56mm for a custom action.

It's in great shape except I scratched the center of the caps taking them off and on at a match with a screwdriver in a hurry. Vortex will replace the caps for free if they are an issue. Otherwise, it has a few minor handling marks from normal use in 3 or 4 prs matches. It is the EBR7C reticle in mils. I have the original box and everything that came with it.

I pulled this thing off the market months ago because I didn't get a trade offer that I wanted, but now it just sets in my closet, so let's find someone who can use it. $1450 delivered to your door.

I could probably also be swayed by really interesting trades. Small caliber bolt rifles, high quality lightweight rifle scopes, etc., but I'll be picky.

Is it me? Or my rifle?

I had a custom build by a local shop when I lived in Alaska. It’s a 300 PRC with an American Rifle Company Mausingfield action, Mesa stock and Proof Research 22” sendero barrel. I moved out of state shortly after getting the rifle and am just getting to break it in.

I’m struggling to get accuracy better than 1 MOA, despite using a couple different powders (IMR 7828ssc and H-1000) at different charges, trying a broad range of seating depth. I broke down and ordered some Hornady Precision ammo today out of curiosity.

Should I start to question the gunsmithing at this point, or should I continue exploring more loads? Is it reasonable to expect better from a custom hunting rifle?

I would consider myself to be a fairly proficient shooter, and compete regularly at the national level for the Army, just for reference.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Buying from online sellers...

Let's poll the audience....

Does anyone request photos with handwritten dates, driver's licenses, or personal information of sellers prior to sending them money? I read that it's a good idea but does anyone actually request it?

I have a person online I am trying to buy from who is probably fine, but I can't be sure. They are worried about losing the item without payment and I am worried about losing money and not getting what I bought. to solve both issues, I suggested that before I send full payment, they provide me with the FFL name or phone they are going to use, take the firearm there so I can confirm the FFL at least has the gun in front of him. Then I push my payment through immediately on the spot. This seemed a pretty basic request and good for all parties involved and my personal FFL suggested this at a bare minimum. Seller gets paid immediately and if not, he walks out the door without losing his item, and buyer at least gets some semblance of peace knowing the item exists and is likely on the way. They are not willing to go through all of that trouble without the money being in the bank, which I understand, but doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. They are a very new user and have no feedback, and while I don't either, I have been a member since 2013 which probably means nothing to them, and I get that. It all made me feel reserved about the deal.

I hate to have a good transaction ruined by requesting stupid things, and It's likely all on the up and up, but it's just too much money to gamble with. How does everyone else handle high dollar purchases and feel OK they aren't getting into trouble in 2023?

Gunsmithing Can i get an opinion on this bedding job

Hey all,

Had this rifle bedded but could never get it to shoot. Initially, I found some hollow spots on tang area. Yesterday night, I pulled it apart and found that the area around the front pillar, inside the recoil lug area, was not filled completely. You can see the bedding compound is not all the way flush to the top of the pillar. The area front of the recoil lug also has a smudge built up which I know is excess that flowed forward. That should have been cleaned up but wasn't, so the barrel was contacting on it. So in total, I found 3 somewhat concerning things.

3 hollow spots on rear tang area

Bedding compound not flush up to the front pillar to create a perfect mate

Bedding compound forward of the recoil lug touching the barrel

I've already cleaned up the spot that was making contact with the barrel. Obviously I will go shoot and see for myself if that changes anything. However, would anyone care to have an opinion? I was thinking that as long as I don’t have high spots I will be good (so I should be fine since the hollow areas are low spots) but what does the hide say?

All my other rifles are on a chassis so I'm not too savvy or experienced with bedded rifles.

Axmc/ax ejection question.

I have a few ejection questions for my axmc. It’s recently went in for work, it was brand new and had a lot of issues. Anyway they polished the extractor and ejector to cure a concern I had about damaged brass. So I’m wondering if my ejection is not as stron now or if this is normal.

is it normal if magazine is removed and you insert piece of brass and and chamber it, and eject it at a slower pace, for it to drop through the magazine well, or should it be strong enough to hold it and eject it through the port?
And secondly, when ejecting a piece of brass at a bit slower pace, is it normal for the brass not to fling back and hit the area where you normally get ejector marks behind the ejection port? Instead the brass kind of ejects in the middle of the port and I’m getting those ejector marks below the ejection port near the back, instead of where I see it on rifles.
If I pull back on the firmly and run the bolt it ejects fine and the brass hits the place where it is supposed to where ejection marks happen, but I’m just wondering about these other scenarios and if it’s normal, or if my ejection got weakened with what they did to me bolt.

and I should mention that I’m running 308 cases in the axmc in this test

Good GSP recommendations?

Hello all, I know a few of you are upland bird hunters. Do any of you hunt with German Shorthaired Pointers? My grandfather had one years ago and he was a great dog. I’ve enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting and wanted to get back into it, having my own dog this time.

Any recommendations for breeders you or friends have had success with? What’s a good budget for a solid hunting dog, and what are the expectations on cost/timing to get them professionally trained? Many thanks.

Two Alligators

Somebody sent me this and I thought it so profound as to deserve its own thread.

======================

Two alligators are sitting on the edge of a swamp.

The small one turns to the big one and says; I don't understand how you can be so much bigger than me. We're the same age, we were the same size as kids... I just don't get it."

"Well," says the big alligator, "what have you been eating?"

"Politicians, same as you," replies the small alligator."

"Hm. Well, where do you catch 'em?"

"Down by the Capitol building in DC"

"Same here. Hm. How do you catch 'em?"

"Well, I crawl under a BMW and wait for someone to unlock the door. Then I jump out, bite 'em, shake the shit out of 'em, and eat 'em!"

"Ah!" says the big alligator, "I think I see your problem. See, by the time you get done shakin' the shit out of a politician, there's nothing left but lips and a briefcase..."

Maggot out

Deputy shot in head while sitting in cruiser

It's so fucked up that we Americans have allowed democrats & RINOs to reduce America to a third world banana republic! This poor cop was driving his cruiser outside his office when some POS scumbag shot him in the head killing him four days after he got engaged to be married.

Fuck Democrats, RINOs, and Criminals (sorry for the redundancy). It feels like time for Citizens to go after the thugs.
