Very little info on Black Hills web site on differences... search has not been very helpful. Background... Myself and two buddies are getting new .223 Rem rifles and want to have some ammo when they get here and were wondering which all around load to try out first. Rifles are 16" and 20" 1:8...
I have a 700 SPS Varmint in 308. What would be involved in converting it to 300WSM? Is it worth the trouble? Before you ask, I don't want to buy another rifle.
Had a few more rifles to bed so I figured that I'd take the time to get a few pics and share. There were a few things different about each job and hopefully this may help a few DIY guys. Enjoy. First one was a Savage FTR single shot. It has a 30 inch heavy barrel so we wanted a pad in front of...
Just working on loads for shooting targets and small varmints sage rats and chucks. Have an older 1-12 twist rifle that just got. Shooting 40-55gr bullets for the most part.
I have a Rem 700 SPS Varmit (1 x 9 1/8 twist) in .243 on order. I'm gathering up the bullets for load development. Right now I have 105 Amax and 105 Berger. I will be using Rel 17, CCIBR and Lapua cases. Will be picking up Rem or Win cases for lost brass matches. I will use it for...

I picked up a rifle from my local gunshop the other day and it's pictured below. It was made for a local fellow by Gordy Gritters from the midwest somewhere. These are the specs: New Rem 700 action Sunny Hill trigger guard Talley rings and basses lapped McMillan Edge stock pillared and painted...
I am getting one of the Rem 700 5R's in 223. I am wondering what others who have these (in 223 or 308 or 300WM) think of the stock. I think they are full length bedding block HS Precision stocks. Is this the case? I was planning on getting a Mc A5 so it would be the same as my 308 GAP in feel...
Narrowed it down to two choices, I think: 1) Millett TRS, 4-16x50 $280 swfa 2) Mueller 4-16x50 Tactical $220 swfa Any opinions? Also which rings, mounts, etc? New to this so any info is greatly appreciated. Mostly target plinking, with the goal to go out to 1000 yds.
I have a Rem. 700 long action that was originaly a .270 Win. I have been looking into making it into a .338 LM but am having a little trouble in finding what exactly I need to Modify on the reciver. Is there any company that dose this type of work. Thanks
A few weeks ago I saw (I think it was here) a member who sells the Remington SPS Tacticals at a fair price. Damned if I can find it... Can someone help a brother out? Thanks.
Hello, I have and AICS 1.5 on a remington 700 PSS. However, testing it out I noticed that feeding from the magazine results in my bullets being scraped along the feeding ramp and i have to apply a generous amount of force to get it up the ramp. Manually loading the chamber is no problem with...
I found a good deal on a rem 788 chambered in 222. I dont know squat about these rifles. The rifle in question is extremly clean and priced really fair. Whats the scoop on these old rifles are they worth messing with? I most likly will want to re-barrel it after i shoot the factory barrel out. Lee
I keep reading that blueprinting a rem 700 action is a waste of time. Whats the real scoop on this issue? Most smiths do not charge much to have this done so i will continue to have it done. Why are some saying that it doesnt help? In my mind anytime you can make something closer to perfection...
Finally jumped into the bolt rifle thing. Figure it is time to work on something besides gas guns. My first order of business is machining down the bolt handle for a new knob. Then machining a 20 moa base for it. At the moment I have a couple of questions. 1. What is the average major...
