BL, what are your thoughts on the ATS tuner? And have you done any testing with and without the brake? That looks like the Area 419 Hellfire. Have you found any adverse effects using the brake.
It’s the only tuner I’ve ever run and adding the tuner and the brake seemed to greatly reduce flyers on my rifle. The brake is a PVA Jetblast.

I need to pull the tuner and brake off and see if the rifle is simply shooting better now that it has more rounds on it.

@Browninglover1 good looking rifle! sorry if I missed it, what barrel are you running? EDIT: I see it now.

Has anyone posted groups with a Proof prefit? I’m really wanting to go that route....RimX/ Proof.

Took some time getting everything together. Mag adjustment was a little funky but once I had all 4 squared away there hasn't been any problems since, 500 ish rounds in. Barrel is a 20" green mountain with eachus chamber from keystone accuracy, MPA BA chassis, trigger tech diamond flat. Runs good with everything I have fed into her so far, SK standard +, SK rifle match, SK long range match, Lapua center X, Lapua X-Act. Had a few light strike hiccups that I'm basing on the unexpected 20 degree weather and the liberal grease application, but I've cleaned that all out and going for another run later this week to be sure. ZERO regrets so far in my choice.

Great looking rig!

One quick thing - the grease we apply is intentional and will promote a smoother operating action. I'd make sure to put some back on the shroud where it interacts with the bolt body. We use Shooters Choice all weather grease that's good in extreme temperatures.

If you run into anything you need assistance with, please let us know. Thanks - Ray

Ive had failure to ignite issues in temps under 35F with all my 22 rifles when using 22LR ammo not specifically made for cold weather shooting... Just the nature of 22LR ammo. To this day, well over 6000rd on my RimX I have yet to touch the grease or clean and replace the grease in my bolt. Its exactly how it came from Zermatt back in March....

I guess I should rethink the "too much grease" guess. I've only had 2 other 22 rifles, only light strikes I ever had were cheap ammo in a 10/22 clone, half the brass I saw coming out of my 457 I was surprised the firing pin didn't cut through the rim!
Regreased all the same spots that had it before I have the shooters choice stuff as well. I will see what happens this weekend supposed to be a little warmer.

Just in case anyone needs to know what parts they're referencing, we've established this schematic of the RimX bolt head. Hopefully this helps people understand the system a little better and eliminates any confusion when parts are being misidentified.

Thanks - Ray

I wanted to post a thank you to Ray at Zermatt and the Guys at Patriot Valley for getting my RimX up and running after a grueling time getting it to fire. The new prefit barrel from PVA is very accurate and functions flawlessly, now for spring to come and get out there and enjoy it.

Rim-X build from a couple days ago. Bartlein 5g, manners, Hawkins dbm. I’ll post better pics once it’s test fired and ready for shipment.

Question for rimx owners..... first of all I'm new to precision 22s. Been looking at building a rimx because I like to tinker and like accurate rifles....

Please don't string me up for this Question but,
How does a rimx shoot bulk ammo?

I know a rifle of this pedigree deserves match ammo....but...

I live in a state where ammo isn't shipped easily and with the ammo crisis going on its hard to buy anything ammo related......

I have plenty of bulk ammo though so if anyone has shot bulk please let me know.....

I'd hate to try and put this together if I couldn't shoot bulk until ammo becomes available.....

Also any word on how current proof research barrels are preforming? As far as accuracy and function with the chambering... or any recommendations for barrels in the same price range?

So far planned on
Rimx
Proof barrel
krg bravo
trigger tech
Is there anything else besides the action wrench and a vice needed?

Thanks all

How often does this happen I only ask because where I live winter is long and I shoot outside.

Shooting at 10-f hasn't caused any issues that I have noticed with the bulk ammunition I have tried .....savage bolt gun,10/22s, and 22 pistols.

Is this an ammo thing or a rimx thing?

Cause cold weather is generally the norm for 7 months up here 😆
and having hiccups because of the cold would get old real fast.....

Thanks

Good start.

Definitely not a RimX thing. Happened to me in 2 CZ455 and RimX with FGMM UM22 AND 922a.... I don't shoot cheap bulk ammo so I can't speak to that. Never happens in Temps above 40F with same ammo all spring and summer....I'd say maybe 1 every 10 or 15

Thanks,
Unfortunately I'm stuck with the ammo I have until more choices are available. We can't order ammo up here that I know of , and the last boxes of anything match where badly price gouged.

Any ideas why match ammo would be more temperature sensitive then bulk?

I would also hate to buy a bunch of match ammo only to have it not run in the winter......haha I guess I need to look up biathlon ammo🤣🤣

Sorry if this is off topic I wont ask anymore questions regarding ammunition.

If you shoot mostly in cold weather and you want match ammo I'd be buying ammo purpose built for cold weather.. I've had great success with Lapua Polar Biathlon...

Anybody using a Trigger Tech Diamond experiencing the following:

Pull trigger, feel second stage break, then quarter to half second later the firing pin drops? It's almost like a hang fire in that it's delayed, but has nothing to do with the primer.

Two weeks ago, I put 75 flawless rounds of Center-X through the system. Pulled the rifle out today for some fine tuning, and now this is happening.

Anyone know the cause, and how to correct it?

ETA: I also experienced two light primer strikes. Both times I was able to re-incert the round and get it to cook off properly. Suppose my firing pin spring might be too light, or... chalk it up to rimfire probs.

There was thread on this earlier, Contact Trigger Tech directly, they will take care of you. I would start with them before anything else like fiddling with trigger too much.

What DBM bottom metals work with the RimX? Is there are consensus about which one is best in sense of least issues with loading?

Is it best practice to "glue" the DBM to a stock so the DBM-magazine relationship is absolutely stable?

The Rim-X mags are adjustable for feed lip height. They work well with pretty much any dbm. Don't try to overthink it.

No. Don't glue your dbm to your stock. If your action screws are torqued to any reasonable number how in the world is your dbm not "stable"?

Yes it will shoot it. That being said I suppose the chamber you choose to run will have something to do with function and accuracy..mine is a Lilja 2 chamber. Greenmountain barrel 24”, just crowned. Here are some groups with inexpensive ammo at 50 yards..

My RimX fitted with a M24 profile Shilen ratchet barrel blank I secured from another site. As this was to be a test barrel, instead of making the tenon according to RimX dimension I threaded for a Savage barrel nut for ease in fitting. For chamber I used a standard .225" chucking reamer for my Lapua Midas+ and used a PTG.22CF Throater to adjust bullet jam to about .050". Cut barrel to 21-1/2" and turned the front to accept Ezell PD tuner that I use on my Anschutz 1907. Was going to compare this setup to another Shilen ratchet #5 profile which I got from Lee Gardner precision with his Match chamber. This barrel and tuner shoots very well. So far initial testing has shown that they work the same, but special chamber reamers not needed or precise tenon machining. Easy set-up for those with a good lathe and machine skills.

@SkyScrapin I had a problem with the trigger tech Diamond also. Same as you described light hits and hang fires. At first I thought it was a bolt problem and contacted Ray @ Zermatt. He immediately shipped out another bolt for me to try. No dice same issues. Pulled a trigger tech diamond from a TL3 Action and it worked with no problems. Called trigger tech and spoke with Ed He swapped out my faulty trigger. The new trigger is what is in the gun now and working great.
Both Ray @Zermatt and Ed @ trigger tech we’re great at helping me work through this problem. Their customer service is what anyone in business should strive to be like. Awesome 👍

Nakoa01 and I have hashed this over before
I say it will probably shoot bulk as good as bulk can shoot.
Shoot what you have.
It won’t hurt it. The guns meant to be shot and bulk ammo won’t hurt the action or the barrel imho.
It won’t group with mid grade or top tier ammo but if that’s all you can get the roll with it.
Just know that you will probably have fliers and you will probably always be wondering if they fliers were you or the ammo.

I shoot my RimX for stress relief and run Remington's Bucket O' Bullets when I do so. I can reach out to 250 yards on an 8" target and ring it 10 out of 10 times. I've got prairie dog silhouettes between 60 and 230 yards as well and can run through them on the way out to 250.

Bulk ammo will run in them just fine (depending on the chamber obviously) but, like you pointed out, don't expect that ammo to print in the .1's at 50 yards consistently.

Determine the goal you want to achieve and buy ammo and a barrel according to that.

Thanks - Ray

Saw Keystone just posted on their IG they have 2 RimX barreled actions ready to ship if anyone's looking. A 20" Krieger and a 18" Green Mountain.

I got my Rim-X Southpaw version from Northland Shooters Supply....had them in stock!!! Check them out.

Looked on every link they have. I see nothing about ready to ship

Killing me seeing all these actions come in stock. Waiting on my action from October.
I'm with you. Mine was supposed to ship 1-14. Still waiting but I get it shit happens. But last I heard it was out for nitride.

Mine was 1-19 on original invoice. And that's what Ray said about mine that week. Things happen, it will come but having a chassis, barrel and scope here on my desk is rough.

I agree I have everything else sitting and waiting also

Wouldn't a faster 40gr standard velocity cause issues in the cold. I haven't tested because it's been so cold but say my RimX shoots Eley Tenex at 1120 FPS. In summer it's great because it stays subsonic even in 100F weather. But say I shoot it in -20F/-25C and clock it as 1120 FPS with my MS3 and subsonic speed at -20 is like 1040FPS - Wouldn't I get accuracy issue past 100y when the bullet slows from the supersonic to transonic range ? In that case, wouldn't I be better served with a slower round like one of the Pistol match/Pistol King rounds? I know fuck all about rimfire but my experience shooting long range subsonic with 308W and 300AAC, my most accurate loads were in the 980-1030FPS range.

Anyone have an idea where and what are those
Indentation on the breech face?

Benchmark barrel prefit. Barrel is brand new , I’ve shot the first 170 rounds through it and that’s what I’ve found once I inspected it after the range session. It’s catching under the nail.

No FTF or extraction issues. Feed fine. Torqued at 70 ft-lbs

I’ve check also I don’t have any bolt back lash with the firing pin removed . Might explain this.

I could be wrong but looks like your bolt face is hitting it. Looks like tensioner and extractor marks on the breach face. I’ve only got my barrel torqued at 45lbs.
