someone told me that a .260 round is just a necked down .308, so my question is: if that is a fact, to convert a regular ar-10 into a .260 would it only be necessary to change barrels? will the clips, bolt, buffer etc. stay the same?

I have a new Remington R25 chambered in 308. I would like to keep that upper intact and have an upper chambered in 260 for it also. If I buy the barrel, who can supply the other parts needed and do the work to build the upper. Thanks mike
