Seekins Havoc Action BEWARE

I bought a Havoc Bravo in 6.5 PRC, and it has the worst action of any rifle I have ever bought at any price. I was reading, a little too late unfortunately about this issue in several rifle magazines and I was curious if anyone has a solution to this problem. I have only fired about 100 rounds so far but there is no sign of it getting any better. I took it to a Smith, and he just said to cycle it a lot and maybe it will get better, ha...

Driving to Alaska repeat.

Obviously we're not going to make it this year but i saw a lot of interest for maybe next year. I'd want to do it and take one of Frank's classes. Anyone who's serious PM me and i'll start a list. I'm thinking leaving in late May or very early June? I have a good solid van but more than one vehicle would be a plus. At 73 I dodnt have a lot of years left here and this is a bucket list thing. Let me add, if youre seriously interested and think its something you might be able to do, dont just 'LIKE' shoot me a PM and we can start a group communication to see about working out details.

Boy howdy we are gonna get the the bottom of this shit now……..

Lets talk bipods

Im in the market. Im not super operator/Ninja/Seal/Killer Diller Miller. I dont have to have the absolute best at any price to be discarded or sold when the next new absolute best comes along. I just need a good, serviceable, unit at a fair price.

Ive looked at Atlas, Accu tec, and Magpul. For the money the Magpul seems to do what its supposed to do without frills and a lot of expense, but not having used it Im not sure if its worth the money. What would the 3X as pricey ones give me that the Magpul wont?

Also, are the Arca and Picatinny interchangeable?

Rifle for 1200 to 2000 yards

I've seen just about every thread on here where some is asking a similar question to what I am. However, I am hoping that this thread will give me a little bit of info/direction that the others haven't. I've got a few 308 and 6.5 creedmoor rifles that I have taken the 308 and 6.5 out to 1200 yards with success. However, the range I am at goes to 2000 yards (JTAC Ranch) and I find myself wanting something that is well suited to go from 1200 to 2000 yards and do it efficiently, be the right tool for the job, and also show impacts downrange. It seems like the suggestions for this are always the 300 prc, 300 norma, and 338 lapua. Lately I've been thinking of getting a Rpr in 300 prc or 338 lapua. Are there any other factory guns in that $1500 to $2000 ish range I should consider? Are there any factory guns in that price range which are chambered in 300 Norma? I have thought about going the semi custom route which I think would start at around the $2000 mark. I've also thought about waiting a bit, saving up, and getting an older ai ax in 338 lapua, shoot it for a while in that and then rebarel it to 300 Norma. I know this would be more expensive but not sure how much more. I only make it out to do JTAC maybe 5 times a year so am hesitant to put $3000+ into this but I am still figuring this out so who knows. (My home range goes up to 600 yards.) I do reload and have a 4-29x56 Cronus to put atop the gun. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Bore Tech C4 - when something lives up to the hype

Many have posted their methods of cleaning the dreaded carbon ring in their rimfire rifles with Bore Tech C4.
I've used Bore Tech Rimfire Blend previously and getting the last bit of the carbon ring out was an hour long process with soaking followed by 100+ short strokes with the nylon brush.

I ordered a 4 oz bottle that cost ~$16 delivered and was thinking that this stuff can't be as good as touted on the forums.
I wrapped a small patch around a jag, put 4 drops of C4 on it and let it sit in the chamber for 10 minutes then rotated the patch a few times and removed it.

Ran the bore scope to see how many more times I needed to do this and it was clean as new!

Color me impressed. This 4 oz bottle should last me several years. Best money I've spent on what I thought was an overhyped product.

Happy shooting.

I need a lightweight, compact 2-10....

Who makes a super compact, lightweight 2-10 power with good glass, an illuminated FFP mil based reticle, .1mil knobs, 10-ish inch OAL, 32-ish mm objective, 20 ounce weight for under $2000?

Does anybody check all those boxes? So far I've looked at the Leupy Mk5HD 2-10 & March Compact 1-10. I'd be all over that Leupold if it had a 30mm tube and a decent reticle. The March is SFP but I may end up going that route if I can't find something I like in a FFP.

It's going on a compact blackout bolt gun for general critter control swapping back and forth between subs and supers. FFP because I'm old and I don't want to have to remember what power I'm at for holds. Lol.

Rifle Scopes I've been Vortex'd

So I recenetly coined the term "Leupolded" which is basically Leupolds ability to get a good idea for a new scope and screw it up with dumb reticle options and other specs they get wrong. I guess that means Vortexed/Vortex'd is when your Vortex scopes shits itself at the worst possible time.

I shot a 22lr match last weekend, I'd been testing/playing around with my scopes and decided to use my 3-15 PST for this particular match.
The first 4 of 8 stages went well and I was happy with my scores but the next 3 went to shit with a lot of misses that I was putting down to wind I wasn't seeing, or just sucking. The final stage 8 of 8 though was prone with zero wind and here I discovered I was hitting 0.8 - 1.0Mil right.

I got home checked everything over on my rifle and gave the barrel a clean.
Checking the scope on paper I was still hitting 1ish Mil right but the elevation was perfect (it's been pretty windy here (right to left) so not sure the exact value).
Because I'd been testing scopes the week before the match I had 4 other scopes all zeroed for this rifle, so I checked 3 of the scopes out (a LRHS, PM2, PST 2.5-10) and they were all nicely zero'd.
Today I've done a tracking test on the 3-15 PST, it is tracking more or less perfectly for the 14Mil of elevation I have available, with no noticable shift in windage.
It's odd that it has permanently shifted to the right after no obvious impacts or abuse, it's holding zero (well it's new zero) and is tracking properly.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?
Should I keep using it and see what happens?

I probably need to send it to Vortex as I have now lost faith in it, and wont want to risk using it at a match again.

$%#@!+÷>! Unkle Mike

Not really a gripe against my cheap Uncle Mike's holster for my Browning Buckmark, just bad luck on it taking a shit. I've had a couple of 7 1/4" inch barreled Brownings over the years. I kill varmints with them, hunt squirrels, plink etc. There aren't many holsters available for them. I've had an Uncle Mike's for probably 20 years. Today I plinked a bit and walked the property. The moment I stepped into the garage the belt loop broke and the pistol landed muzzle end into the concrete.😒

Hog Hunters & Dog dead in Cistern

BASTROP, Texas− Three people from Florida fell into an underground water reservoir in Central Texas and died on Wednesday after trying to catch a dog that had fallen into the hole.

Authorities said the group was going to meet a friend to go hog hunting in Bastrop County, just outside of Austin. A dog escaped from their truck and fell in the reservoir, prompting three of the people to go after the dog.

Hydrogen sulfide fumes found in cistern

Authorities smelled fumes coming from the hole and found high levels of hydrogen sulfide, a toxic gas common in septic tanks and wells. Cook said they speculate the gas affected the buoyancy of the water and caused them to not be able to float.
“It wasn't long in the tank before they went to the bottom," he said.

Actions options for an MDT ACC Elite Chassis (REM700/SA)

I recently got a pretty good deal on a MDT ACC Elite Chassis for a Remington SA 700 action. Now I need the action and the barrel that goes with it. Problem is, in my country we are pretty limited regarding parts availability, and both the actions and the barrels are controlled-items which require a license and registration .

I'm inclined to do some smith job on this build, but I want to keep the chassis as-is, without alterations.

So far I have found two options:
1) Get an Area 419 Barrelled Action on a Deviant Tenacity Action.
2) Get a Zermatt TLR3 with a Prefit Savage (Short Shank) Barrel.

I have contacted Area 419 about option 1 and they said that everything if fully compatible; the barrelled action should drop-in without issues. Later I have found out that some people report issues with the bolt-stop (which would require inletting), that are in fact larger than most rem 700's.

Option 2 is probably the most cost-effective option for me, even with the TLR3. What do you guys think about it? A savage prefit barrel will do or I miss something? That would be my first semi-custom "build", that's why I need the guidance.
