I was hoping someone out there could help me confirm the use of an EOtech EXPS3 and a Steiner DBAL D2 on a GBRS Hydra mount. I would like to get one for my setup but it looks like the optic rail section, for the EOTech, is lower than the LAM rail.

The DBAL is a pretty tall LAM so I am
Concerned with how much sight picture is going to be lost.

I could always run a small riser on the hydra? The problem here is is jacks up the magnifier heights and options.

Maybe I just need a new LAM.

I have a McMillan Game Scout inlet for impact short actions, I picked it up here quite a while back.

It has an adjustable cheek and M5 bottom metal cut. Short arca section and pic rail for bipod attachment.

I’m not exactly certain of the barrel inlet but here’s what I know. A bartlein remvar carbon fiber profile gently touches near the muzzle, so you would need a relatively thin profile or do some work with a dowel.

Hey all. I’ve got a 27 inch factory AI barrel in 338 Lapua Magnum. I need a barrel for this rifle that is 300 Norma Magnum. I’d prefer 20-24 inches but will take anything I can find up to 27 inches. I’m extremely open to Proof Carbon or steel as well as factory AI barrels. If you’ve got Carbon I’d toss in some cash.

We would each pay shipping of our own barrel. My 338LM barrel is DE color and has 50 rounds on it. There are some scuff from the safe and I can send pics to potential trade partners. Threads are immaculate. No muzzle device included.

I have a Origin short action and a Peak44 Bastion stock that’s channeled for Remington Mag Sporter profile barrels which will not fit carbon barrels. So overall my goal is a 20” 300WSM steel barrel threaded to 5/8x24 that’s as light as possible that still makes a good suppressor host, and fits in my Peak44 stock. I’m hoping for 2.5# or less in barrel weight, so I may have to flute it, and or have the barrel profiled back out at the muzzle to be able to thread it 5/8x24. This is going to be a hunting rifle, not a range toy.

What profile would you pick for such a project? Flutes, or no flutes? Flare at the muzzle for threads or not needed?

If you have such a barrel, do you know what it weighs? How do you like?

I know, I know, the carbon barrels are all the rage and the easy button, but they are expensive, I would have to buy a different stock, and they are really not that light at around 3# for a 20”.

A few years ago, Sierra came out with the 169 SMK in an attempt to iron out the short comings of the 168 SMK especially past 800 yards.

Has anyone worked up any loads for .308 with the 169's that they have shot past 800 yards? Do share.

My pet load for .308 WIN 168 SMK's (300-600 yard) in a bolt rig is: 45.0 grn of VARGET, Lapua Brass, Wolf LR primers. 2.800" or mag length.
Barrel: 1-11 twist Bartlein (30") with 95 Palma chamber.

I hope to use the 169's with a similar load and have it print well at 1K. -S
