Sako vs. Weatherby

I am looking for a new rifle, have a lot of hiking in mind (caribou) as well as locally in Indiana during deer season.

I like 308 so I want to stick with that caliber.

Have it narrowed down to the Sako Quest, or the Weatherby Backcountry Guide Ti. Both have 20" barrels, the Sako is stainless, the Weatherby is carbon fiber. The Sako is about 6 pounds, the Weatherby is 5 pounds.

They are both around $3,500.00.

One minor plus for the Weatherby is that it has built in Spartan attachment points, I like Spartan bidpods.

Any opinions either way? Any specific positive or negative experiences with either one?

Nothing new about Kestrel and ballistic apps

Depending on which rifle I’m shooting (one with a on weapon laser rangefinder) or using laser rangefinder binoculars and their corresponding mobile apps (GeoBallistics, AB Quantum, Sig Sauer BDX or the Kestrel Link app) I have developed a “cheat sheet” suitable for old shooters like myself that appreciate gentle reminders.

SOLD Leupold Mark 5 (5-25x56mm) Illuminated Scope

Selling For: $1,850.00

Leupold Mark 5 (PR1-MIL FFP Reticle)(Illuminated)
I just upgraded to a ZCO scope and do not need this one anymore. I purchased it for my competition rifle and moved it to my hunting rig after I upgraded to a TT. I kept a wrap on the front bell to protect it. It also has the upgraded exposed turret and side windage dial. It’s a great scope and is the illuminated model as well. It sells new for $2,800 plus tax. You will be hard pressed to find one in this nice of shape for this price.

Suppressor increases accuracy (At least this rifle)

Here’s the details: Origin short action, 300 WSM, 20” fluted barrel, Peak 44 Bastion stock bedded. This is a lightweight hunting rig and the barrel weighs 2.6#. I’ve kind of been pulling my hair our trying to get better than 1” average groups. I’m not going into detail, but I’ve tried a lot of bullet and powder combos and now have around 300 rounds down the tube. The best groups have been with 210 ABLR’s with 67.3 grains of R26 in Lapua cases with F215 primers; I’ve been annnealing after every shot giving single digit SD’s. Until now, my muzzle device has been an Area 419 Hellfire brake. I removed the brake last weekend and shot it with my Dead Air Nomad TiXC direct threaded on. It shoots so much better with the suppressor, I wish I had tried it earlier. I would just shoot it all the time suppressed, but as life would have it, the gun is in a commy state half the time, so no suppressor when there.

Weights:
DA Nomad Ti XC direct threaded: 9.3 oz
Area 419 Hellfire and adapter: 5 oz
2A Arms titanium brake: 1.7 oz

How do I make it shoot the same group size not suppressed as suppressed? Obviously, removing the Aera 419 Hellfire is a good start. Perhaps I should try it without a muzzle device? I could also try it with a 2A Arms titanium brake as well as its lighter and might have better barrel harmonics. Any other ideas as to how best accomplish this? Pics below show how much better it shoots with the suppressor.

Groups shot at 200 yards:

With 419 brake:

With suppressor:

image_cropper_78FDF57F-40A6-4CE9-8F7F-03F263EADBB0-35072-000021526CDFD29A.jpeg

Adjusted scope up 2 clicks. The group with the brake is .802 moa, quite a bit larger than the suppressed group.

500 yard group off tripod suppressed. The wind was calm and my Kestrel 5700 link with AB suggested .25 min left adjustment, obviously wrong, I need to sort that out.

6 dasher AR10

I released some time ago in the marvelous 6 dasher an AR 10 . And yes that works very well in semi auto .
Rifle gas length system ,JP low mass bolt carrier and JP high pressure bolt to avoid pierced primer .
To make it work with this little round I use pmag magazine ,and with the anti tilt follower no problem .
The gas port is drilled at 1,9 mm (0,075inch). For a 22 inch long barrel .

Reloading Equipment Bullet Puller Organizers

Please let me know if you have the RCBS cam (die type) bullet puller. The collets are a little smaller than others and I use a smaller hole diameter for those.

I printed these bullet puller organizers for a few people and they worked well. If anybody could use one PM me.
Red or black. If not specified I will ship what I have on hand. Can do custom colors on request but it might be a few dollars extra.
$20 TYD Inertia Style puller: Holds 6 of the collets and the handle. This works with all the most common inertia driven bullet pullers. Lyman, Frankford arsenal, RCBS and the knock offs of this type. This can just sit on top of the bench or be mounted to a wall via two #8 screws. To use the handle holder it needs to be mounted to a wall or side of bench as shown in the images.
$28 TYD Cam lock Style bullet puller: This will work with the most common die type bullet pullers such as Hornady, RCBS and Forester. This will hold 10 collets along with the dies and their respective components and allen key. I can add the custom labeling to the collet holder like in the image for $5 extra. You would have to include what you need them to say and in what order. Given the depth of the collet holder hole, most collets can still be identified with the factory stampings. This can just sit on top of the bench or be mounted to a wall via two #8 screws
$38 TYD Cam lock Style bullet puller with lid: This option will include a lid to cover the cam lock style pullers only. See image for how it sits on top. This can still be wall mounted or sit on the bench.

If you have any questions or other custom requests please let me know and we can figure it out. Thanks.

Rev Indicator

How important are they? I have scopes with and without. It probably would have saved me once or twice. But if I have a zero stop, I can just dial down to zero and back up from there. I have shot competition before but not a ton. Is this something that any of you actually use in hunting and competition or just a novelty. I was looking at a Viper 5-25x50 FFP for some local NRL stuff and hunting. It does not have a Rev Indicator on it.

SOLD Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 MOA

Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 in MOA. Scope has some blemishes on the turrets from going in and out of the safe. Also has some light marks from the scope mount. Glass is in solid shape. Comes with Butler Creek flip up caps. Unfortunately I can't find the original box so what you see is what you get. I'll throw it in a different scope box for shipping.

Asking $450 shipped conus

Paypal ff or venmo only
