The Hell with basketball & that "March Madness" nonsense- it's April & that means HOCKEY!

March madness is behind us (I'm sure someone won some kind of championship recently but I haven't watched basketball since Jordan, Rodman, and Pippen were playing for the Bulls in the early 90's).

I want to talk Hockey here- specifically AHL Hockey. NHL is fair game but in hockey terms- the regular season is over and regardless what league you follow the team's are chasing after their respective cups for the season.

Here's where we're at for the AHL bracket...

While I'm more equipped to talk AHL here- since we're talking Hockey I'll throw in the NHL bracket (I'm doubtful "my" team has the juice to bring home the cup here) but regardless...

1745466129500.png

This has been a particularly notable year for me personally and my enjoyment of hockey. As mentioned- I've primarily been focused on AHL games as this was the first year I committed to purchasing passes for the local team. The game of hockey has changed (or at least it seems like it has to me over the years) but I was able to witness some 'interesting' moments during the 18+ games I went to. One of which was seeing the opposing team's goalie clock a player from the home team. "Loyalties" aside- I don't know if I ever saw a goalie initiate a fight before this year. I also saw a fight break out... twice that seemed to include the entirety of both teams. It took something like 20-30 minutes for the refs to work out the penalties afterwards and added something close to an extra hour to the game while they sorted out the penalties for both teams.

I started a thread here after the experience of one particular game, titled something like "you matter". I stand behind the sentiment of why I started that post but the gist was our seats this year were next to two brothers... one of which was part of the Army National Guard and the other had some special needs. As the season progressed, I came to talk to these two and found out that there was something about the game that 'settled/calmed' the one brother and the other (for years at that point) was his 'hockey buddy' to take him to these games. A really impressive young man in my opinion and in his "just doing what needed to be done for his family".

Those are just the top highlights in my head tonight- not to get unnecessarily reminiscent either, just want to talk hockey here.

So what say you Hide, any hockey fans out there watching either the AHL or NHL teams chasing after this season's cups?

Felony trespassing? Is that what folks get locked up for now?

We all knew there was no "Insurrection."

So how do the fake news and fake politicians and fake 'revolutionaries' and fake charges... now handle the fact that under scrutiny, a few folks 'might' have trespassed.

And I'd argue that 'walking through the halls of the Capitol (OUR building) is NOT trespassing. But entering offices and stealing souvenirs probably 'is' trespassing. Or worse? But not locked up without trial for 4 years... worse.

Trespassing... well, we all knew it. DIdn't we?

So... what happens now? My guess is that the 'trespassers' stay locked up on false charges until something changes other than a SCOTUS decision. I doubt they have the power to require release of American political prisoners.

On the other hand... and here is something to consider. Pelosi and the Xiden thugs have now set a precedent. That political opponents can be locked up without trial for years. Merely if charged with something... bad sounding. So a new DoJ with a solid AG... Who is pro-American... could theoretically order the arrest and imprisonment of anyone who appears to have staged an 'insurrection' between 2017 and 2021. That list is long. That list includes a lot of people who are 'known' to have done some 'insurrectiony-things.' Faking evidence. Paying witnesses. Lawfare. Spying. Stealing elections. Defying military orders from civilian chain of command. All in the name of bringing down a sitting, duly-elected President. Which, if I read my Websters right, is the 'actual' definition of an insurrection.

ASGH... but precedents work both ways. Best way to avoid precedent-setting is to release all the J6 'trespassers' with an apology (and probably a big payout)... .and say "This should never have happened."

Because payback is a bitch. And can be used by both sides. Not that we should descend to that in America. We are better than that. But if that is the tactic being used against Americans. By communists, foreign powers and, well, insurrectionists with big financial backers and dreams of socialist paradises.

And it's time it works both ways.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Retro-ish build parts list comments?

Looking at doing a simple retro-ish build (capturing an m24 or a 700p) but with the modern ability to change barrels myself instead of sending the action to a smith. Terrible parts list?

Selling my Manners T4A that MHSA bedded for a defiance deviant SA. Has a RRS arca rail and Fritz at Black Canyon Customs installed the badger EFR with a 20moa cant for my PVS 26 at the time.

Inletted for a m24 contour barrel, PTG m5 dbm (not included). Has been primarily hunted with and have shot a few matches with it but stock is in very good shape. Will go over it tonight and add any pictures of blemishes if I find any.

This is an awesome stock, but have gotten a Foundation Ezekiel so I no longer need this one. A Hawkins M5 DBM will fit but it’s a very tight fit. A PTG m5 dbm is really the best fit.

6 Arc Gasser Glass, Must be clip on compatible

I've been struggling for about 2 months now with a decision on what optic to buy and the analysis paralysis is killing me. I built a 6 arc with an 18" barrel and it's going to get carried quite a bit so I am somewhat weight conscious. Will be often paired with a POT Voodoo-M.

I wanted to try a March 4.5-28 but the 4.5 low end seems a bit much for what I need as does the 28 high end, but I've used their 3-24x42 in the past and although I loved the weight I remember the eye box being brutal. March 1.5-15 looks SUPER interesting because of the weight and low end mag, but I read so many reviews complaining about the resolution that I always get scared before pulling the trigger.

TT 3-15M seems like it should be an awesome choice but at the same time I don't think I've ever seen one on a gas gun and for the money I always wonder why that's the case, especially when I see ZCO's everywhere. I'm not interested in ZCO for the weight, and I'm not interested in nightforce after a bad experience with them.

S&B has a 3-20 but I hear even less about them than the TT and it's still 31 ounces and 6.6K which seems rather insane.

Steiner M7 2.9-20? But then it weighs almost as much as the ZCO 4-20.

Is there anything else I should be looking at? Is there anything new on the horizon it may be worth waiting for in the 3-20 realm?

Night Vision WTS Envision MARSc 1550nm Ballistic LRF (IR laser, IR illuminator, vis laser)

I am selling my Envision MARSc 1550nm LRF, with built-in IR laser, IR illuminator, and visible laser. This is the commercial model, meaning the IR laser, illuminator and vis laser are not full-power. It does however have the 1550nm laser range finder of the FP MARS. I am the first owner and I bought it directly from Envision. The unit has been babied. I am selling it because over the last 12 months, I've had a chance to use it a grand total of about 4 times and the future isn't looking any better. Really hard to justify having it just sitting in the safe. It is a fantastic piece of kit and the best ballistic LRF I've ever used.

Everything pictured is included. I am missing the original manual, however Envision did tell me they can send out a replacement. If interested, just let me know and I'll arrange it. I do have the quick reference card.

Asking $9500 shipped, and please no trades. I am selling this unit because I have neither the time nor place to use it, with no end in sight. Any trade items would be in the exact same boat.

Herters white/red box 243 brass?

Has anyone ever used this brass? It's older Herters white and red box brass that says made in Finland (white box) made in Sweden (red box) Would I be right to assume the white box were made by Sako or Lapua? Are they of high quality? I have the opportunity to pick up 3 virgin boxes and the brass looks decent. He also has 5 boxes of the red box, so Im also assuming thats made by Norma? Which would you grab given the opportunity? Or would you just go with starline or winchester?

I was born in 85' never even heard of Herters...

Another memento of a time long ago

20250727_131612.jpg

This license plate has been on the front of one of my vehicles ever since I bought it in Fort Benning (no, I'm never going to call it anything BUT Fort Benning) in 1991 while in Basic Training.

It's beat to shit just like me, and is getting ready to go onto yet another truck. I've thought about retiring it to my reloading room wall, and trying to find a new one, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

It's the only thing I've put on a vehicle that signifies I'm a veteran.

Who else has a treasured piece from the past that they hold on to?

Let's see some cool stuff.

Edit: I don't mean strictly military stuff, but anything you have that brings back memories of a significant time or event, or a person that you knew. Just some cool things.
